It's a bit small for my taste.
It's a bit small for my taste.
Are the wings sheeted or are they monokoted?
Are the retract bays for the mains cut out?
Monokoted, I didn't look to see if the wings were setup for retracts or not. I'm not that impressed with this thing. I wanted to see what a 250 dollar bobcat looks like. Well, I seen it, and it's about what you would expect for a couple hundred bones. This might be a great electric ducted fan though, but I don't know anything about electric stuff.
okay give us some pics of the wing now please
but i can see why you would say its small
you fly the big ones:D
some more pixz
Got mine today.
Seems they changed the glue. Looks like hot glue joints.
Paint needs to be sanded and cleared due to flashing here and there.
Fuse can't accommodate a DUBRO 50 oz. I got one 24oz. in, could easily fit another 24 oz or maybe two 32oz + UAT.
Retracts pockets are set up for Robart 550 or 530 size gear. Definitely requires Hysol and reinforcement here.
I don't like the nose retract plate and set up, because it limits what you can do as far as gear and doors without a major overhaul.
Also, they created a receptical for the air tank that prevents you from using about 10 inches of nose area for
weight, batteries, etc.
I also noticed that the white fuse seems a bit heavier than the black one. I'll weight things tomorrow.
The servo setup in the booms are simular to the BC50, but the 2 elevator servos now sits high on the boom near the bottom of the stab.
I thought the tail plane thickness would easily accomodate a retro fitted 8611, but I believe its a tad bit narrow.
I've built a number of balsa kits over the years and this ARF is not that bad, just needs a little TLC in the right areas and
you've got a rock solid jet. For 250, I think I got what I expected. This will make the perfect pactice and small field plane.
I'm planning on putting a turbine in one and electric the other, haven't made up my mind which.
The white one will get striped down and painted in a TBird or Blue Angel scheme.
Guys, did you check about the retract wells and mounts in the wing ? pics would be great.
Thinking about a turbine conversion, i know the BVM bobcat (same size but heavier plane) flys very fast on a Jetcat P-80 (8kg thrust), so i figure a JJ1400 with about 6kg thrust should push the Falcon 120 around fairly well !
BTW - the manufacturer of the Falcon sells a kit with some nice looking air up spring down retracts and struts, im not sure why the US distributor decided to buy the gear-less version.
would love to see some wing pics and what kind of retracts to use in this bird looking for as much info as posible
seems this forum has slowed down ummmm
I also noticed that the white fuse seems a bit heavier than the black one. I'll weigh things tomorrow.
Any chance you got it mocked together and weighed?
a ram500 is a turbine correct?
do you think of reenforcig the wing in any way?
Gadi, where you been brother ? :D
O.S 1.60 FX With a three blade 16X10 Pusher Prop????????????
I just got my today And planing to put a Byron set up. but the Artes would do the job does not eat much
fuel. It also can use another wingtube fore more support. Here goes another project.
Has anyone come up with a better idea for the nose gear? Mine is ready to fly at 13.6 pounds.
Forgot pics of nose gear strut.
What engine do you have installed? I'm just curious because it seems that most of the bobcat 50's need a .60 or .75 to really get moving. So....I'm really starting to question whether or not a 1.20 will get this bird moving like it should or not. I can't wait to hear you reports on the maiden!!!
Also.....what is the width between the booms?
What retracts are you using? Your setup looks good.
as far as my expirience with the 50 goes, i only enjoyed the speed if i put a 91 motor on it, even a 61 and 75 were nice, but not quite up ther with other prop jets.
i doubt a 120 would move the falcon in a jet like manner.
Also, I was wondering about transportation? Dose it break down to fit in the Car?? And if so is it a nightmare or is it eazy to do?????
How easy do the wings come off, what is the attachment method for the wings, can you take a close up photo of the attachment?
To start with I had a GMS 120 that I put in, but the next engine will be an OS 160. The retrcts are ROBART 520 series with a fork type strut I made. I spoke to robart and ordered parts to install a 656 ROBO STRUT in nose gear. The wings come off easy with a wing nut ( did not use 6mm plastic bolt supplied) and I plan to leave the booms on (THEY ARE A PAIN).
Here are a few more pics.
I take from your post you didn't like th GMS 1.20 on it. Could I persuade you into giving a flight report with it? Also....could you post what the width is between the booms?
Very Clean Build!!!! You Take Pride in your work. Give us your Flight Report. Thank you!
Great job Jim.
Looks like it's just about ready for maiden.
