RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

At last, poor Chinese build quality finally pays off!

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Any one made any more progress with there Falcon yet? I have the new nose gear mounts done and cut the covering off the bottom of the wing to change out the gear mounts for the bigger Robart gear. By the way can I change my 85 degree to 90 for the mains that I was putting in till I found that yesterday? Todd

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Yes I had three flights on sunday. on the ali. a little trim , on the elevator, little trim up.
On the ele. make sure that the top of the stab is even with the ele. NOT THE BOTTOM. The C/G is perfect at 13 inches. I even had one deadstick. and it like to glide. I did not use flaps. The Byron fan system works great at 4-1/4 outlet. I will try 4 inch outlet next , after that some props. I use spring/air Robarts. |
RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
I am glad yours flew well and has any got there’s ready with the turbine? Thanks Todd

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
I just got my Falcon 120. I'd like to know what size motor to put in this jet? I'm thinking about a GMS120 or an OS140.
Have any of you out there tried these combinations? Thanks....... |

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
ORIGINAL: JIMZACH To start with I had a GMS 120 that I put in, but the next engine will be an OS 160. The retrcts are ROBART 520 series with a fork type strut I made. I spoke to robart and ordered parts to install a 656 ROBO STRUT in nose gear. The wings come off easy with a wing nut ( did not use 6mm plastic bolt supplied) and I plan to leave the booms on (THEY ARE A PAIN). This from earlier in the thread. Neo |

I have run out of room in my falcon 120 for fuel. Any suggestions about a external centerline fuel tank. Thanks Todd

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Randy, has that falcon flown on turbine power ?
If so, which turbine is that and how did it fly ? please tell us.. |
RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
I have no details. I was not at the field when this pic was taken. I believe it's a ram 750. I don't think it has flown yet. The same fellow has 2 of the 50 size bobcats with jet joes on them.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Any flight reports on the Falcon in the pic Randy and what size tanks have any body fitted in it for turbine use?
Thanks Todd |
RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
i have a super bee on mine but i would like to hear some flight reports before i fly it, especially the take offs and landings.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
The Falcon pictured in Randy M. post is mine. It is packing
a Ram 750 air start. Fuel is 90 + ozs in a bottom 50 oz, 32 oz sitting on top of the 50 and the tank that comes with the plane. The dry weight is 16.5 lbs and ballanced forward of the 13 in. for the test flight (nose heavy is much better than tail heavy on first flight). The plane has not flown yet because of other problems unrelated to flying, but hopefully by this week end. Results will be posted, good or bad, using the new XPS 10 channel reciever in a JR 10S. RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
i have been flying mine for about a week now. CG is the stated 13 inces and that is perfect...the plane is great for power i have a supertigre 2300...at this time the motor is not performing well..gotta break it in and i am also planning for a header tank, but you guys will love it

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Hello Guys!!! Looks like a great project and lots of nice work guys....
Where can I purchase one retract ready??? I would like to put my new Wren MW54 MKlll on it... I can purchase it in the States or in Europe as I will be here for the Summer to Fall months... Thanks and Happy Flying... Mojo |
RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
ORIGINAL: JIMZACH Hi guys, First flight was UGLY. GMS 120 with the 14x7 three blade is not enough, needs more blade to start with. RPM'S in the air were verry high but no push. Take off took for ever and then shot straight up , landing after cutting power went straight down. I found out on second flight both problems were better wih at least half flaps. For you guy's with JR radios down load BVM data safe program for BOB CAT it will give you basic set up and crow. Next step will be to replace GMS 120 with OS 160, Already ordered pusher pipe from WESTON UK. Thank You Jim, Mojo |
RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Flipping the prop just yields less thrust---Prop still works the same way just less efficiently...You need a reversed pitch prop...
