RE: Flyeagle F18F
Thanks for the help. I will try that setting for my firtst flight.
I will keep you updated. |
RE: Flyeagle F18F
Just one of the takeoffs i had to take afew things out to keep it under 20kg waight here in the uk it come out at 19.8 lol but u have to add 5.5ltr of fuel to that.with the merlin 160 mark 3 that puts out nearly 40lb of thrust it fly's real nice

RE: Flyeagle F18F
The F-18 that I have is the new honeycomb light. The total weight dry is at around
34lb + fuel. I will install a K-180, witch puts out the same thrust (40lb). One more question. When you lower the flaps for landing, do you have elavator mix to compensate for pitch changes? Flaps down, will the nose pitch up or down? Thanks again, Alanjets. |
RE: Flyeagle F18F
I only use my flaps when there is no wind i have to put some down in or it just keeps floating on and on if there is a wind try it without flaps first then mix some in to your liking it will pitch up its best to put a little more down elevator in so when landing u are putting a little elevator up in instead of pushing down in to get it down on the ground .It will fly nice on that engine mine is alot heaver and still floats real nice flying plane

RE: Flyeagle F18F
Alanjets, is this for the 1/6th or 1/7th scale F-18? I just did the maiden on the 1/6th at 230mm as the factory said and it was tail heavy for sure! Got it back fine but it was a pretty touchy all the way through the flight.

Its the 1/7 scale just about fits in the van u wouldnt put a 160 in the 1/6 scale would not be enough

RE: Flyeagle F18F
HAHA, your right! I have two 160Vx EvoJets in this bird! Just checking to make sure. The factory said 230mm on this 1/6 and by the way it flew tail heavy, I am thinking it is closer to 210-200mm.
Thanks |
RE: Flyeagle F18F
yep the 1/6 is a big plane lol love the f18 think they look one of the best jets
|
RE: Flyeagle F18F
I was about to say at that weight the 1/6 would be light! lol hey rex how goes it? I wish I lived closer to you guys over there could deff use some help with my current projects [&o]

RE: Flyeagle F18F
FB, all is well my friend. Had a great time at KY. Maidened this big bird, finally. Saw the F-14's fly a bunch...man, they have worked out the bugs on those for sure! Rock solid now! I'd give "B1 Bob" a ring on the F-14, he seems to have his in the "sweet spot" and so does James Chen's brother. There was a guy there with his in EDF (no clue why to have an F-14 in EDF) that had his flying great too. I'd run your issues by those guys and see what they say.
best of luck to you on your projects! I'm building another Hawk for a friend...love that bird! Rex |

I have been emailing GJC about this aircraft, and he reccomended I start with Viper or Velox. I've been flying R/C for 37+ years, almost everything from 1/2A to 50% giants along with helicopters. Is this plane that difficult to fly? What are it's bad flying habits? Is 200+ feet of grass runway enough to takeoff and land? If I get it, it will be powered by KingTech 170-180.

RE: Flyeagle F18F
I know I'll need to buy servos and the turbine, what other electronics will I need? I want to buy all the stuff I will need to finish the plane all at once, so it will be just a matter of installing the turbine and radio gear. Thanks in advance.

RE: Flyeagle F18F
Hello! F-18 drivers. I flew my f-18f 1/7 scale honeycomb version, this past Sunday. I am powering the jet with the new k-180 and running the engine with diesel. The jet flew well. Stable platform, no bad tendencies and plenty of power for scale flying. The only thing I had a problem with was with the flaps and mixing of the elevator. On the first flight after selecting the flaps down for landing the jet pitched down onto a 45 degree dive. I decided to retract the flaps and performed a no
flap landing. The other two flight I flew the jet without flaps for t/o and landings. I will mix some up elevator for the next flight and see how that goes. Anyone here using up mix on the elevtor when the flaps are deployed? Thanks in advance! |

Hello<div>Does someone's had ever use just the tailerons (elevons & ailerons) and block the ailerons on the wing...LIKE a DELTA wing .....on the F-18 ;1/7?</div><div></div>

I install two Rhinoes flys like the real thing!!! FEJ 1/6 F18

RE: Flyeagle F18F
I have mixed in elevons with the ailerons I would not be comfortable with elevons only for roll control and the deflection needed because of the flutter possibilities. My setup now is ailerons only for roll.
|
RE: Flyeagle F18F
I am flying the 1/8 f18f fb and it doesn't need anything but the aileron to control bank. I only need less than 1/2 inch up or down to hav good scale flying control.
I know you will need more on the larger airframe but I am sure the responses will be same. It is easy to over controll this bird with to much deflection. |
