RE: 1:3.7 Pilatus PC21 turboprop build

It's been a long time in the making ( We had a big issue with the clear coat used so the model had to be stripped and re glossed ) But the PC21 finally took to the skies yesterday.
Wow! What a machine.. Its a allot bigger than I remember it, as well as allot more detailed and impressive in the flesh. Marc has done his usual impeccable job on the build with all systems working perfectly pre flight. An issue with the Easy air set up caused some dram on landing, but nothing other than a broken prop ( Which needed to be replaced as it was under pitched).
Some photos.

Not on that prop ( Too little pitch) But 14" props on order so hopefully that will do the trick. ( Although it did sound superb on this prop.. supersonic even on a up line)

Looks fantastic, and I bet the sound is awesome.
Out of the various kits I have made in the last few years this one is really out there, the whole thing is very satisfying to build, yes there were a few mods to get closer to scale, the landing gear being the main one, but I think this is now offered in the standard kit so one less job to do now.
Hope to see this fly in the flesh soon, maybe even at Jetpower ;)

Hi Martin,
Liked your PC-21. I am currently building a "scale" pc-21 from HT-modelbau also. I wanted to ask you ,.are your formation strip lights actual "lights" or stick on reflectors?? If not do you know if they exist yet for rc? Waiting for your reply.
Thanks
Peter

Lovely garage, but the wrong car to have with such a low and well decorated celling [:@] Oh.. and the model is rather nice as well. This is one of those that I would like to re visit one day but do it simple and lighter the next time.

Ali , beutifull plane , awsome !!

Can you post a video to us ?

Im starting a ESM Pilatus PC-21 ( Here in Brazil , to buy a big bird like yours is really impossible , federal taxes will double the original price ) and I am following this posts to do this , obviosly saving the proportions .

Anybody knows if HT Modellbau is still in business?
Sent them a couple of e-mails a week ago, but no answer...

Ali 10-27-2013 04:13 AM

no, they are long gone. The good news is that we might see a new PC-21 coming from a new supplier sometime in 2014. Which is great as this is a model that I would really like to do again.

Yes, the PC-21! After Axalp, I really would like to have that model with a turboprop up front. Such a beautiful plane! And the pilot who flew it knew his stuff :)
My other choice is a CARF Tucano, but it can't beat the looks of the PC-21, IMO.

I also heard a certain German turbine mfr is currently testing a 200n (turbine size) turboprop unit. Not sure what airframe it's targeted at but it's good to see the Turboprop market growing. :D
