Can anyone please measure or know the length of the M4 shoulder cap head bolts that hold the wings on (overall length), yes I have lost mine this afternoon and cannot find anywhere :-(
I know they are longer than 50mm probably 60mm at a guess

Alan

Alan

Yes, M4 x 60.

Dave

Thanks Dave..

My Hawk finally saw some air time - K140, lots of power. It needed a fair amount of left aileron trim to fly straight. Flaps are up and snug against the fuse. Rudder needed no trim. Could my wings be slightly warped? Hard to tell visually. Will check more carefully later this week though. Any thoughts?

fireblade5437 09-14-2015 10:08 PM

My Hawk flies level with ailerons set level, trim also set at '0'
FYI

I have test flown 30+ Hawks and none needed much if any trim.

Have you checked the aileron lines up at the tip (seam) Ignore the flap for now.
I set the aileron level, or sometimes a tiny bit high (1mm) Never use CROW on the Hawk, just messes it up!

Then when the ailerons are inline with the wing tip you can look at the flaps and see if they match up. Sometimes the wing seat needs a little sanding to allow full closed flap movement.

Great input Dave, thank you. I have not used crow on the Hawk.

I had lined up the ailerons with the flaps. I will go back and check. Will post response when done. Thx.

Hey Guys,
My son recently got a 3D printer for his birthday and since he's been printing out all kinds of crazy things, I figured I would try and inspire a little entrepreneurial spirit in him. So I asked him if he could make some vortex generators for the Hawk. Here's a pic of what he's got. You just clip off whichever side you don't need. A little sanding and they would be ready for primer and paint. PM me for pricing if you're interested. Thanks.

It's about time! You know I want some. Pm me price Marty. Thanks

Paul. Good job on the build, My favourite scheme to see in the air so far, lights showed up well too, cockpit and decals and it will look great.
Few pics (stevie or Rob?) took with my camera of the first flight. Paul with Mo (its her name in the <3 lower side) and me
First flight was a little nose heavy (guessed weight in place of cockpit) second and third flight were even better.

Gear Cylinder size correct?

1 Attachment(s)
I just acquired a Graupner Hawk SV with the scale gear, I read this Thread pg 1 to 85, allot of nice models and info in here, can't wait to get mine completed for this spring. Be using a 140RXi for power. One thing concerns me in reading this thread, size of retract cylinders. See picture attached, is this gear equipped with the larger upgraded cylinders? Looks to be from what I can see compared to a picture of the smaller cylinders seen in this thread.

Here is a picture of small cylinder verse big cylinder I found in in this thread, looks like I have the larger ones?

lancr735 10-12-2015 04:04 PM

Any Graupner versions still out there flying? I acquired a black one.

Does the Graupner version fly as well as I read the Carf one does?

Dave Wilshere 10-12-2015 09:27 PM

Yes, you have the larger ones :-)
Most of the Graupner kits were sold in Europe, and not a huge number of Europeans post here. I'll photo Roland's example when I next fly it. You are going to be fine, the Graupner model flies like the smaller Airworld model, nothing nasty, but slightly more weight to give a scale sit and more natural energy through manoeuvres.

lancr735 10-13-2015 09:15 AM

THANKS for the info Dave. Glad to hear conformation gear cylinders are good to go :)

Any build pictures you can find of the Graupner MUCH apprciated if you can find any since only thing this package didn't come with is instrcutions :(

Would 2 these servos be suitable for the horizontal stab?

[h=1]DS8711 Ultra Torque Servo (JRPS8711)[/h]
I see 8511 were reccomended but I have 2 of these 8711's already and 5 8411's for the Ailerons, Flaps, and Tail

All suitable at 5.9 volts through a Powerbox?

husafreak 10-13-2015 07:43 PM

Yes those are fine. I have 8911's on mine (not HV) well over 200 flights. Pushing them pretty hard too. I am running 2s LiFe so 6.6v. The aluminum case of your 8711 choice is probably a bit overkill but they will be fine.
