Epic Victory Build
1 Attachment(s)
I will shortly be embarking on a build project for a friend in the shape of a Graupner Epic Victory, being as it is one of the first kits i will be starting with a relatively clean sheet and thought it would be a good idea to see if anyone out there has any build tips, things to look out for, pics of there installations, recommended improvements etc before i start. It will be powered by a Jetcat P160, we are currently debating what power supply/system will be used, it will be guided by Futaba FASST/14MZ (never mind!) via Futaba brushless servos . . . . . the owner is on the case with this as i type! i am looking forward to this one as it will certainly be a different shape in the sky at UK jet meets, i believe there is another being built and would be quite nice to see them in the air at the same time. As it seems to be a bit of an unknown quantity any pointers could prove useful as the build progresses. The model will be finished as in the pictures attached, looks very smart!

RE: Epic Victory Build
I too am building a Epic Victory for the Owner of Epic Aircraft Company. I have a preproduction model and all I have is the glass parts and a box of bulkheads. No drawings or anything. I will be following this build and posting too as I make progress.
Good to see I am not going to be alone on this one! |
RE: Epic Victory Build
I think the kit that i am getting has similar contents, looking forward to it!

I'll fill in the blanks as we go along...you just need a proper modelling car to collect the kit... Graupner's instructions are getting close to being finished, I have some more wood parts for you too. Dave |

ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere Jamie I'll fill in the blanks as we go along...you just need a proper modelling car to collect the kit... Graupner's instructions are getting close to being finished, I have some more wood parts for you too. Dave I think Martin will be collecting and delivering, but you are right i do need an estate car . . . . the passat saloon is not ideal, although i can get the Bobcat, Bandit, ground equipment and a couple of conventional sport models in it at once! but i am reluctant to get rid of a car that has not given me a moments trouble since i bought it considering the amount of travelling i do . . . . plus i like it too much!. I swap cars with the missus motorised shopping trolley sometimes as it is alot more economical than mine but can get s!d all in it! I would like to get the Nano Jetcat when it arrives and a Super Bandit before i change the car. I think it will be picked up next week on his way down to me, will be seeing him Wednesday. |

RE: Epic Victory Build
Can you guys tell me if Graupner has made changes to the beta model as thats what I have. Rick has asked me to move the turbine forward to help with balance. Is this the case with the production models? Are they producing a longer tail pipe to adjust for the move?
Dave, any help you can send my way will be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I agree the model is HUGE. It took up the bed of my F-250 pickup truck just to get her home.:D :D:D |

Dave
Have you got the latest wood pack? If not he should get Graupner to ship a set. Also clear tinted windows are being produced so that the model can be "scaled" up. I'll get a second disc of construction photos burnt-pm me a mail address and I'll ship one over. The further forward you can get the turbine the better, but building everything into the nose will help-its a lonnngggg nose! At the end of the day it's a big model a little weight will be fine Dave |

PM sent! Thank you! |

Jamie / Dave,
I am so looking forward to taking delivery of the model. I am undecided on whether to use two receivers or not; I will be using the R6014HS and probably BLS152 servos throughout. Here are some more pictures to whet the appetite of those interested. |

Just say ticking bomb...:D Dave |
RE: Epic Victory Build
Funny i've not seen Jason "the bandit" Fletcher have any problems with the F factor. Maybe the others were user error?? ;) I'm on spekky, so of course haven't had any problems :D
Nice model Jamie, i take it your going to get a go on the sticks after all your hard work. Is the A10 finished yet? |

ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere Jamie Just say ticking bomb...:D Dave Well theres a few of us with these ticking bombs but none have gone off yet... I don't know anyone who says they have had a problem with FASST. Jason |
RE: Epic Victory Build
It's not FASST as a system...but anyways this thread is not about that!

Hi Jamie, from the title of this thread and you being a navy boy I thought you were building this !
I saw the fuselage on M&R's stand at the recent LMA show, it was massive. |

RE: Epic Victory Build
I am collecting the model and taking it down to Jamie. We are spending the evening discussing the build and sampling a few beers (or pear cider in Jamie’s case). I have got the camera ready, so I can post some pictures of the parts before we start. The servos have arrived (8 x BLS152) and the receivers (2 x R6014HS), plus a few others for nose-leg doors. I am looking at using a PowerBox because of the power of the servos and the long servo leads. I think I’ll probably end up with the Royal, just because it has a screen, I’m not going to use the internal matchboxes.
We are also going to work out the best fuel tank to use; my options so far are the Graupner Hawk tank or one from [link=http://www.angelfire.com/wi/jettech/page2.html]Jet Tech Custom Fuel Cells[/link]. |
