RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
Finally one side closed, still have to put the rivets in place. This is a moment that gives a extra boost for the rest :).

RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
Dear Peter what a great job!!!!!If one day you have time and camera could you show us how you give the aluminum shape in one curve place?
Thank you.Keep that awesome work!!!! |
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
Hi argyris, sorry no camera but I took some pictures and they show enough.
With difficult surfaces I preheat the aluminium, this makes it soft and easy to handle. After that I use a tube to make the curves. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89065-001.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89066-002.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89068-004.jpg Turning it over to the other side. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89072-005.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89073-006.jpg It fits. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89074-007.jpg Glueing it to the surface gives it the final shape. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89075-008.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89076-009.jpg Greeeting, Peter |

RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
The panels under the nose are now detailed, did also a test with sanding the aluminium and I like the effect.
It looks like it is sandblasted :D. Counting and measuring the rivets. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e88953-001.jpg In place and sanded with p 400, not so nice. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e88954-002.jpg Rivets on the other side and middle. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89269-001.jpg Sanded the suface with scotch-brigt on a machine. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89296-005.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89295-003.jpg Looking forward to have the whole plug looking like this :D. |
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B

RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
:D Yes.
This time a panel on the side of the intake, lots of rivets. Have measured them on the 1:1, it took me several hours doing this :). http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89633-002.jpg The panel on the upper right will also get a extra hatch. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89634-003.jpg |

RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
Almost ready on the right side, sheeting of the ram air intake is in place and started shaping the last panel.
Filled a gap behind the panel with polyester kit to get it better glued. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89725-002.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89726-003.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e89727-004.jpg |

:D Thanks Carlos .
Greetings, Peter |
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
One side is ready now and I have sheeted the complete other side, only the details are not there. I guess it will take some days to draw all the rivets and screws on it.
Than a lot of hammering :). After that finishing the side parts, wings and a half of the 'donut'. Not to forget the Pacer Amstel parts everywhere. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e90342-003.jpg Completing it before the end of 2011 will be a challenge but I won't rush it. |
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
Still drawing rivets and panels :).
http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e90411-006.jpg Placed the ventrals just to get some motivation, so much rivets :) http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e90414-004.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e90852-003.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e90898-006.jpg |
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
Again, very inspiring Peter! The day you pull the first part out of the mold and all this detail shows itself all the effort will be worth it....even more so when you pop the third and forth one out of the mold and you only had to do all this effort once. ;)
|
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
And all the others :D, thanks Sean.
The first screws and rivets are born after a lot of drawing on the panels. :) http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e91192-002.jpg Not ready yet. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e91193-005.jpg |

Looking fantastic peter!

RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
:D Thanks Thomas.
Finally some new pictures, have made new ventral fins because I didn't like the old ones. I didn't succeed to close the underside of the plug before new year, I blame it on the hollidays ;). New panel and fins. The one on the first picture is replaced, it looked to me like one from a WW II plane[>:] http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e91771-002.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e92603-001.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e92602-001.jpg |
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
No progress at the moment, a bit of a building block. A cousin came to see the plug so I build it up, last time I saw it like this was half year ago.
It is still looking big :D. http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e93534-011.jpg http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/...e93535-005.jpg |
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
Whos the girl on the wall with the cig?
|
RE: My scale 1/5 F-16 B
This is just a marvelous build. The detail that you are putting into this plug is amazing! I am wondering if you have planned how to build the molds and get all that detail transfered so that the parts will come out containing all the details? I have been following B1-Bob's build of his Thunderchief's and was curious as to how you will set up yours. With all this work to make a model/Plug with all this fine detail, it would be a shame to lose any of it in the transfers. Great job!
