Which truck?
well, i have it narrowed down to 4 trucks. i want a monster truck for sure. i will just be bashing them around the field and around the yard. stuff like that. i want it to be 4WD as well. i am leaning more toward a Nitro, but maintenance could be an issue. Really I am stuck between nitro or electric. Once i decide that, I think i can decide what truck from there. If i get electric, I will go brushless and run LiPo, but that is also kinda scaring me away. I do not know much about them, but i hear they can blow up and stuff like that? I like the idea of nitro because i can just put more gas in it and run it and run it. But with electric you have to wait for the stupid thing to charge, and even then i was told the batteries can only be charged once a day?? I have been driving trucks like these for at least 5 years. so i have some experience. I am very meticulous about my stuff, so it will be taken care of.
My choices are:
Nitro
HPI Savage X 4.6
Traxxas Revo 3.3
Electric
HPI Savage Flux 2350
Traxxas E-Maxx brushless
I drove my buddies Savage 4.6 last weekend and to me it seemed a little "sloppy" When i hit the throttle it took a second to take off, and when i let off, it didnt let off right away. It took about a half second, almost like the signal had to catch up to the truck. Just something i noticed.
Sorry for the long post. Your guys input is definitely appreciated. Thanks.
EDIT: What is the difference between the Savage Flux 2350 and HP?

RE: Which truck?
Sounds like you've talked yourself into and out of nitro and electric. No one can tell you which is better. Get one and decide for yourself if electric/or nitro is for you.

If you go nitro I think Savage will be the way to go. That problem your friend's Savage had may just be an issue with the receiver or throttle servo.

RE: Which truck?
yeah i have pretty much gone back and forth and back forth.
what is the maintenance like for a nitro? if it sits for long periods of time, does something need to be run through it so it doesnt gunk up or corrode in the motor?

RE: Which truck?
Maintenence is pretty low IMO....after run oil procedure post running it...takes about 1 minute to do and some argue it isnt needed depending on fuel you use. Youll want to flush the engine/tank/lines if its gonna sit for months at a time yes, but again....not intensive maintnence there either.
I think the added maintenence is due to more mechanical pieces to keep up on....mechanical brakes, clutch, pipe. If maintenence worries you, nitro isnt really for you....since the maintenence on nitro is a lot of the reason people enjoy them.

RE: Which truck?
maintenance does not really bother me. i race 4-wheelers and those things are the kings of maintenance. its insane. so it does not bother me at all. if i get bored it will just give me an excuse to do something, lol. thanks for your input.
i just cant decide, Revo or Savage.

"i am leaning more toward a Nitro, but maintenance could be an issue." - Thats what you typed in the first post......anyway, I would vote Savage.

From your list, I would get a Savage. But try the XL. The Savage will be tough, and relatively user-friendly...
And yeah, nitro is just more exciting than electro.

RE: Which truck?
after reading and looking around, the Savage HP on 4s LiPo is sounding really appealing, But the 2350 also seems nice.
Decisions, decisions.. lol.

RE: Which truck?
I would pass on the 2350....at some point you are probably going to want to at least try the savage on 6s...even if you dont want to run it a lot on 6s, the temptation will be hard to ward off...and of course you dont have that option with the 2350. If you go brushless savage...I say get the flux.
