Default New to T-Maxx...

I got a roller t-maxx and have a quick question(maybe more to come!)...
Howcome the wheels don't spin when I spin the spur gear?
Also, I noticed that when i spin one of the rear wheels, the other rear wheel spins in the oppisite direction.... being four wheel drive, shouldn't the front do the same? When I spin one front wheel the other spins in the same direction unlike the rear....

Well, that's it for now, thanks for the quick help!

haha.... it does that because of the differentials.... i don't know anything much about it (and plus it's kinda hard to explain) inside it's kindof like a 3... the outer parts of the 3 go to the tires and the middle goes to the gear box. I don't really know how to explain it. sorry... your best bet is look at the manual where it show the differentials and try to figure it out there.

You probaly have a spool on the front causing it to rotate in the same direction.

I opened up the front gear box.... and i noticed there was no differential(actually in a little bag of extras it came with)...
the gears are direct, so both can only rotate in the same direction....
Is this okay? it looks like the previous owner set it up like this... Uhm, is it okay to run it like this? should I leave it on the front end or switch it with the rear? thanks again!

Default And yes it is O.K to run it that way but,

It is recommended that you only run the spool setup in off-road conditions like dirt grass and so on. If you run it on the street there is a chance of messing up the tranny gears!

and to answer the spur gear question, if you have the forward only conversion, it will spin freely one way, and will move the wheels the other. if it still has reverse, it still has a nuetral position too, so it is in nuetral until the spur gear moves fast enough to engage. if you have a high power air compressor and blow the spur gear fast enough, it will engage and make the truck pop forwards for a quick second. i cant do that anymore since i got the reverse lockout/forward only conversion.

yea, i just found out that a spool is installed....
as for the spur gear.... the previous owner said it's foward only(i don't know if it's the foward only conversion) but it moves freely in both directions. I guess it just needs to be spinning at a high rpm in order to engage? right? thanks again!

I just got the stock Savage radio gear(TF-4 or something) for my maxx! Because I won't be using the 3rd channel, does anyone know how to connect it to some lights? That would be nice to turn off/on the lights from your radio! thanks..... just a crazy idea!...

the spool should be in the back if its in the front it will be hard to steer and i would not try to hook up any lights to the receiver because you will drain the battery's and loss control of the truck

p.s. you will not do any thing to the tranny on the pavement if you leave the spool in you mite brake an Axel going to the wheel though
