Default Need some help on Beach protection

Hello,

I was wondering what are some GOOD ideas to help protect my truck from the sand? I have the old t-maxx with the new 2.5, its all stock...if that helps.

If I should have to put servos and such in ballons is there any particular kind (stupid question)...thinking that some might be thicker or something. And when I have a servo in the ballon should I cut around the horn or what?

Thanks in advance,
Larry

i took mine on the beach totally stock the first week i had it. no problems what so ever. do not run it on the beace without its body on though. clean your air intake every like 20-30 minutes. the sand is really bad. the sand SUX cleaning out unless ya got compressed air. i now have siliconed the servos and put grease and o rings under the servos arms.

use a dual stage air filter with an outer foam, because that outer foam will catch most of the big peices of sand and the second will catch the smaller stuff. make sure wen you are done running that you open up your diffs, to see if sand penitrated into them, if so... replace the fluid, because it will prematurely grind down your gears.

Other than that, i have taken my trucks out to the beach, and never did anything to them at all.... just gave it a good cleaning when i got home.

Depends on the type of sand. I wrapped my servo's in balloons after I went thru a puddle and killed a servo.

I had my T MAXX on a softball diamond and that sand was nasty. It's that yellow / orange sand that if you get on your clothes its on for good... needless to say it went everywhere. I had to remove the gastank and remove it from there as well
The beach sand should be a bit easier on ya, just make sure your gastank seals tight and your airfilter is on tight. Last thing you want is a grain of sand in an 11,000 rpm engine.

the fluid is just Diff grease ( or silicon oil) should be able to find the stock stuff in the manual, and Motor savor makes a dual element filters which are very good.... either get there Heavy duty off-roading one with the Plastic guard,.... or there .21 filter and zip tie it on REAL good.

ok thanks.

where can i get the motor savor? link?

Also, should i get an exhaust deflector? anything else?

I'm not sure how the sand is, i haven't been there in 2 years. I think the sand is real soft and light, thin. I'm going to NC, if that helps.

when you put the servo in the ballon, how do you cut around the horn so that the rest of the ballon doesn't rip? Pics would be great.

Thanks a BUNCH,
Larry
