My savage shuts off when I apply the brake so I set the low speed idle to stop it from sliding the slider in so that i can use the brake and not have to restart the truck is that ok. I'm using the steering thottle that came with the car for the accelerater and bought a new one for the steering now is there something else I should adjust.

just make sure that your linkages don't go back to far when the brake is pressed. if they do, adjust some of the lengths of the linkages and you should be fine.

Either your throttle trim is a little too high or your idle screw is adjusted too low.

Either what Waverave said, or your clutch springs are worn or busted and is still engaging the drivetrain.

dude ur idle screw needs adjusted that has happened to me alot i to turn your idle up screw it in that is what needs to be done hold in on your brakes and adjust till it dont die

its not the idle screw if I turn it up any the car starts to move

IDLE SCREW. At least that's what mine took. If your running into a problem where it starts to move make sure you don't have your LSN to LEAN.

if your car starts to move you turned the idle screw too much. do it just until the car starts to move then back it just a TAD.

i had the same problem. It was solved by moving the linkage around and messing with the idle a tad. Then the problem came back....this time it was the clutch, engaging when i tried to stop it and killed the engine.

like i said adjust your linkages, i have seen this happen lots..

When the thing is just standing there.. does the car turn off if you hit the brakes? then its your set screw.
Your linkage may not be adjusted to ide right so your carb may be open too little under pressure.
When your set screw is adjusted right, there should be NO DIFFERENCE between idle position and full brake.

Also there is a possibility that your clutch is sticking but you'll have to check this first.

I'm pretty certain it's the clutch, take all 4 wheels off the ground and let it idle, it'll most likely turn the wheels but then set it down and if it dies then it's definately the clutch.

Tumbleweed, I've had problems with the salesman of Smartech, and a few other things, my truck is much better now with Traxxas parts and I'm selling because I have a project for another truck and don't want too many.
