I think its time for a new head........350!!
hey all. I was out running my maxx at a friends track tonight(cool temp outside probably around 75-80) I have an XTM 24.7 with the stock head on it still. I brought it in to temp it and it was at 350!!!!degrees farenhiegt( hsn at 2 1/2-3 turns out, and with stock little head) I shut er' down right away. I wasnt running it for too long, like 3 times around track. I really need your advice on a different head.(btw.. hsn set at 4 turns out temp was at 270!!, break in setting is a 2 1/2.) Im a little bit mad about this. Did they acually think this head is big enough!!! There is a head from acncm that is huge and would provide exelent cooling but its made from 6061 and not 7075.
nova makes one too, and so does crazy nut ????
Please help me decide!!
thanks for your help
P.S. the needle is above the brass sleeve that goes around the needle. Im pretty sure it shouldnt be that far out( 4 turns) just to get it at a good temp which is still a little warm(275)!!!!

if it runs 350 at 2-1/2 turn out, and runs 270 at 4 turns out, then it sounds like 2-1/2 is too lean. if it is a little boggy at 4 or more turns out , then lean the LSN a little. what is the recommended temp? also you might have obstructed fuel flow(dirty carb, kinked or loose fuel line, dirty fuel filter) or loose/kinked pressure line.

i have a nova head on my sirio 18. it looks very nice and keeps the engine a bit cooler. the crazy nut head is taller, and may keep temps even lower, but may be damaged in a rollover. i think the head might not be the problem. clean heads run cooler.

the crazy nut head is the way to go, it is by far the best for cooling looks and a 100% warranty. if it breaks they will replace it.

hey there, the normal operating temp is 275 or so. and no it doestn run too well at 4 turns out, its boggy, and im not getting the power i should from a .21! It could be my fuel filter. I'll check it out. but i do need a new head anyway cause the stock one is powder coated and holds heat anyway

the nocer heads, IMO are WAY over priced. they are like $70 and are not that big. they are also short, the taller the head the more the air flow.

casey... novarossi does not make engine heads.
their is a brand however called NOVA. and i am not being biased, just stating the facts. a taller head= more air flow=better cooling.
correct?
crazy nut heads are generly bigger and that is better.
nocer heads are pretty small and that says enough right there.
i am not saying they don't work, just not as well as a cnr.
i have provided you with facts, therefor i am not being biased. if you can provide me with some facts then we will be able to discuss it. i have researched it and found the best one.
the only biased person i can see is the one who said
"actually nova rossi heads are the best,"
if you don't know the name how can you know how well they work?
