Gotta replace Savage's brake but...
Which one should I get? The stock replacement is less than $5 at Tower Hobbies but they also have a steel brake setup for over $30. Is the hopup THAT much better than the original?

When you replace your brake disc, be sure to replace your brake hub as well. If it's not already all screwed up (since you brake disc must be), then it will be in short order once you put a disc on there that is stronger than the original. I burned mine out in about 3 days when I first got my Savage.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that. Are you sure it's your brake disc and not you hub?I thought mine was toast but it turned out to be the hub instead.I put a GPM alloy one on and it's working great with the double disc setup.

Rex, you need to get rid of all those pics of cars in your gallery and replace them all with more versions of your avatar in a much larger size. ;-)

I wish he could but our hands are tied lol!
Rex, you still sellin that LINK? LOL! Erika definitely was yummy.
Anyway.. I agree that 2 discs are better than one. Brake FADE is a big factor with the plastics. I'm sure they have a decent bit of fade.
I used the Steel ones and yes they are better but you do need better pads. Glazed pads will really hurt your braking when it comes to metal pads. Even more than plastic pads.
If all else fails, spread some loctite on the disc.. haha J/k

I like the duel disk setup but I'm not sure what all I need for it. I haven't had my Savage apart yet but I had already planned on replacing the hub. Experience tells me that if one part is slipping, the other is stripping in most cases. lol
I thought about trying to rig a temporary fix with JB Weld & some circuit board waste strips but the disk will be too thick by the time all is said & done. Thanks for the info & Rex, maybe you could start a petition of something so you could revamp your gallery. lol

All you need is two Traxxas brake discs http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSP67&P=7
And two traxxas brake pads http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSP68&P=7
And two screws that are a little longer than the stock ones and thats it.I highly recommend you get the GPM brake hub for this mod though.
Heres alink to the How To

Rex2432 Thanks for the info! I caught a thread about the mod but if it listed the parts needed I looked over it. I like this idea tho because I can get some Traxxas stuff locally if they haven't sold out of the 2 or 3 parts they usually order each week. lol

I have that Hot bodies mod in my truck and it works perfect. With the wheels you run its a must. I installed them after killing a stock brake and a carbon brake. The only tip I have is to replace the brake hub. A stock hub is fine when used with the steel hot bodies mod.
