Default MIP 7.5 Clutch, running just one spring?

I got my MIP clutch for my Savage the other day and installed it. I have it set on the setting where it should hook up soon, but its not good enough for me. I want it to bite immediatly. It has two springs that go around the shoes. Would it hurt to just only use one spring? When I install my HPI racing clutch in my Nitro MT it only used one spring and it was the same exact setup this clutch has.

i dont know about that clutch, but other brands that uses the stiff metal springs and not the coil springs can have many different "weight" springs. so if you want it to engage earlier you can put lighter springs it and vice versa.

if you put the one spring on and you dont like it you wont mess anything up in the short term. give it a shot. if it dont sound/run right the nut the 2nd one on.

No No No....... YOU HAVE TO USE THE 2 SPRINGS...If you don't the other one will get streched and your clutch will no longer operate like it is suppose too....

I know cause i ran the exact same set up....give it time and and it will loosen up a little..

How would it get streched??
It doesn't expand any more than it would if there were both springs installed, That just doesn't make any sense to me.

I can't see it streching it out either... The only bad think would be it may engage way to early, like at an idle.

That's the issue, at what rpm does the clutch engage,

Most guys like the stiffer springs in the 1/8th scale set ups to allow the engine to rev a little more before the clutch bites

that actually give you a little more punch off the line. if the clutch engages to early it actually can slow the engine down and seam slower off the line

Does that set up have the weights like the 10th scale clutch?
if so they make a big difference too

just use the 2 springs and you'll be happy......They already engage at fairly low RPM with 2 springs so i know cause i had them before...

Last night I tried it with just one spring. I like it a lot better. It graps at low RPMS and I can now almost get the front end off the ground with the stock motor. At an idle it if you pick the truck up the tires just barely move around, so its not engaging to much at an idle luckily
