If I recall correctly, the Traxxas site does mention 270 and it also mentions that the 2.5 will run something like 170 over ambient temp. That's why I didn't run mine if it was over 100F outside. However, one guy from Traxxas told me just to run it rich. FYI, there is a very long post from the Traxxas people regarding the engine on their forum regarding temps, tuning, and so on. I would check it out if I were you. BTW, I switched out the 2.5 with a Sirio 3.0.

I had some overheating probs when I first got my 2.5 but after installing a Golden Horizons head (PN 02208B) I have had much better temps. You are right with the 270 degree mark, and at no time should it be at 350. Actually my engine would stall at 300 bang on, so I never would have been able to get it that high but your results may be different. Mine runs 250-270 consistently - I just finished gallon #4 and she's still runnin strong!
