RE: 1:18 Micro Monster Truck
That looks VERY cool, VERY expensive and VERY heavy.
That's why I think I'll be happier with a micro buggy like the Mini-T rather than a micro MT. Even if they made a true mini-nitro, I would want an electric so I can tool around indoors (and dispite claims to the contrary, nobody has shown me a 1/18 scale nitro car/truck yet-the HPI one was closer to 1/10-12). So if you have a MINI platform, you're gonna hafta have a pretty mini-sized battery. That means you need a LIGHT car if you want speed and/or run times that aren't a joke.
Sophisticated as that truck looks, It's gotta weigh 5-8 lbs., maybe more. I may be wrong, I can't see how it could hit 50% of the Mini-T's specs: 15-20mph top speed/45 min. max run time (with accessory 5 cell NiMH pack).
No denying that this micro MT looks GREAT, but my preference in off-road micros is gonna be light & fast. I can't see how "monsterness" would be that fun in something so small.
Dean
P.S. I wonder if the Mini-T can be set up to be a decent indoor "carpet racer"? Hopefully, you can drop the body down low with minor adjustments, then you could get some on-road rims & tires. It might be a bit slower than the Kyosho Micros, but with the right motor & battery hopups, it might be close vs. a stock Micro.

RE: 1:18 Micro Monster Truck
I doubt it would handle as well as the Micro RS4 but it would still be fun. The Micro MT isnt a bad idea, the only thing is that it was designed to be a rock crawler. The mini t is the truck for me.
BTW, the run times of 45 minutes are achieved with the 4 AA factory set up, the run time drops with the rechargable pack (but who cares the speed goes up!).

Buggies v. Monster Trucks: Two completely different concepts no matter what scale and in my opinion, the hybrids don’t appear to be the best of both worlds. An inexpensive RTR micro-rock crawler may simply make a nice addition to the family.
