I got my Mammoth about a week ago. Finally got to get it out and do the break in on it. Before I get into that I'll just say that it is a monster. It's bigger than the MGT. It's lomger and just a little wider. I also have a Savage 21 that is all aluminum. The Mammoth is not as heavy as my Savage. The Mammoth is set up quite well. It has good shocks and a sturdy frame. The suspension is similar to a buggy and this truck is real stable. I got it out and started the break in on the motor, While running the first tank of gas through it, the truck is extremly sluggish and boggy. This is because it is extremly rich. I used to have the 24/7 motor on my savage before I replaced it. So I know this motor will push this truck very well. (this is because when the 24/7 was on my savage the savage was a lot heavier than the stock Mammoth). During the second tank of fuel I started to lean out the fuel mixture to get better response. The truck still started off sluggish but it did improve as I leaned it out. During the third tank it started to hit second gear and started to pick up speed. (If this truck will hit 50+mph then I needed a big parking lot for the final break in stage). The handeling of the suspension and steering was great. the truck turns well with no slipping, it sucks up the bumps great. and is starting to excellerate faster and faster as I get it leaner. Unfortunatly I was not able to finish my break in due to the fact that a curb jumped out in front of my truck as it was excellerating into the power curve of second gear. [&o] So I am currently waiting on some more parts to replace the broken controle arms from the bad ol parking curb.

But the truck will haul ass, and I feel it will be a blast to play with once I get the truck tuned in the way I want it. That plus the fact that XTM ALREADY had hop up parts available for it.

The Mammoth is not as heavy as my Savage
Savage: 11.2 lbs. http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/articles/hpi_savage.asp (Savage 21 & 25 weigh the same

Mammoth: 11.75 lbs. http://www.hobbypeople.net/specials/mammoth.asp

Granted, it's only 1/2 lb., but these are the facts per the mfgs.

Ok let me change my statement about the weight of the Mammoth.

MY SAVAGE weighs in at about 15lbs. and my Mammoth does not weigh as much as MY savage.

[X(][X(][X(] Still, and not to say that your Savage weight might not be an estimate, I'd think all that only would add a pound or so over the stock stuff, as Aluminum isn't THAT much heavier than plastic.

But it's good to see such a clear cut example of how you don't need to hop up a Savage

Ill tell you if you put those Hot bodies wheels on it, the ufos or revolutions. That adds about 2 pounds. Those things are heavy

Hey Deandome,
You actually don't need to hop up a Savage. I've ran my Savage 21 stock for a while, actually I bought it in January almost a year from now The only thing I've hopped up is the engine and pipe. The reason the pipe was hopped up was because... black plastic or chrome... c'mon gotta go with the chrome But I finally decided to hop up the engine by getting the .26 since my engine finally seized... it only took 11 months(no rebuilds). Keep in mind I abused the crap out of my engine, since unfortunately it was the first nitro mt I bought.

I cant see how you run a .26 Savage with the stock Dogbones and that plastic brake hub, and that weak brake pad and those plastic clutch shoes and the low torque steering servo. Are you sure you havent done any of these things and just forgot because they arent that expensive!!!!!!!!

Who even asked about the Monster GT. That thing isnt showing me anything special. What will people go out and grab it because its an associated. I havent heard anyone stating any facts besides" bigger, faster, tougher", and isnt that the company statement. Ive also heard "its bad" or "its mean". Give me some stats tell me what its done. The t_maxx came out and it was the fastest, The savage came out it was unique and durable, The Dominator came out and it was the racers dream. The savage 25 and Savage ss are the reloaded guns (matrix2) The x-factor came out and it was the climber. The mammoth came out and its the fastest and its a racer and its the biggest. What is the MGT its not faster its not bigger and who even knows if it tougher. Its sloww compared to the newer trucks it loks like a T-maxx and I cant see spending all that Money if I cant take it out to the track and when people see it they dont say OH S*** We are in trouble!!!! Not to say its not a good truck but it certainly didnt bring anything new to the table. Im not spending that kind of money so a kid with a Cen MT2 can spank the hell out of me during the warm ups.

Hey Popa just got the Picco .26 it's on the way. I'll upgrade parts as I break them with the .26. What I meant is that the Savage doesn't really need any hop ups and should hold strong in stock form. Of course if you put a beefier engine it'll need hop ups that's common sense. Was responding to Deandome and saying that if you hopped up your Savage it wasn't because they were mandatory hop ups.

I had my Mammoth out last weekend and was doing some heavt duty speed runs in the big-ol-parkinglot. A couple of friends of mine were there one has a T-Maxx 2.5, the other has a Mammoth and a BB T-maxx with an XTM 24/7 in it. we were there to finish the fine tuneing on the Mammoths. Those trucks (Mammoth) will flat haul *****. The stock Tmax wont stand a chance. it doesnt have the power or speed to keep up with the Mammoth. The BB T-maxx took it off the line and held a lead for about 1 sec till the Mammoth over powered it and took off. this was strictly because og the gearing. Both the Mammoth and the BB T-maxx that were there have the exact same XTM 24/7 motors in them, but the gearing is diff. The T-Maxx took it off the line, but the Mammoth quickly over took the poor T-Maxx. I was having fun starting from 20' or so behind the T-Maxx and still passing it by the end of the lot.[8D] The Mammoth looks like it will be a blast, the engin is starting to show great improvements from the origional setup, the more you take your time in breaking it in the faster and stronger it performs. This truck just blew me away. I had it at full speed when it passed by me about 3' or 4' from me, this truck was hauling so fast you could hear the tires (like a normal truck going down the highway with big tires on it) as it flat ***** flew past me. it was going so fast that i was really supprised. this truck will really haul. (Now I just need to get the other set of gears to make it go even faster )
