Default Crackling sound

Hi, I have a Traxxas SportMaxx. And I was cleaning it after a dirt run. and I noticed that when ever I braked the car would make a crackling sound. It would'nt make the sound when im driving foward. But when I brake it makes the sound. The gear mesh is PERFECT. I opened up the transmittion and none of the gears were broken are missing teeth. It looked like it was brand new. It sounds like the crackling is coming from the brake. Doesn anyone know what is wrong? PLEASE HELP!

probably got some of the cleaning stuff on the brake pad. Try and clean it off then try braking and it should be fine.

If the noise is coming from the brake why did you open up the transmission? I thought you worked at a hobby shop fixing trucks!

Well, i do work at my lhs, and I couldnt find out were the sound was! Because everything is so close together, so I took of the transmittion to make sure it wasnt teh gears. Chill man, its not the end on the world! lol

And no its not the rear diff, are the front(well it cant be the front since its 4WD.) thats one of the first things Ive checked!!

PLEASE HELP!! It still drives like new but the sound is ANNOYING! There has to be a problem somewere!

You just said "And no its not the rear diff, are the front(well it cant be the front since its 4WD.) thats one of the first things Ive checked!!". What does that mean? Why couldn't it be the front diff if it's 4WD? I'm not saying that it's the problem, but it doesn't make any sense to overlook it.

cass- well, its weird because I checked everything possibile, nothing. It seemd like when im driving it everthing is the same.

and noone at my hobby shop can figure it out either! not even the head of the RC deportment. Plus im working with electric, not nitro so its a littel more challenging for me.

My truck always maked that noise for as long as I had the truck and nothings wrong with it. I haven't acted like it was a big deal cause when it makes that noise, it gives me "super braking"

I bet its just the knuckle on the brake hitting the brake pads when you jam on the brakes

no, why do you care if it doesn't effect your performance?...i don't see why it matters. hey, i got a great idea! screw the trx 2.5, get a conversion kit and new engine, that way when you brake, you won't be able to hear it because you don't have a tiny small block engine!!

Have you tried to run it on the bench and listen for the sound and look for binding on anything when you put on the brakes? It sounds to me like there is a joint in something that is binding up, or maybe a bearing that is going bad. bearings in a real car grind when they start going bad, and CV axles in real cars start popping when they go bad. I would bench run it and start with bearings and joints.
