Default savage starting problems

I bought a savage 25 with about a half gallon of fuel through it.the 1st few times it started fine, now it wont start unless I loosen the glow plug.when the plug is tight it just spins but not turnning the motor over?? even when I loosen the plug it trys to still spin and every now and then it catches and turns the motor over a lil bit.I took it apart and have found nothing wrong.kinda sounds like on a car when the bendix spring is messed up on the starter?? any help guys??

So, when you use the roto start? it doesnt turn the motor over? or is it a pullstart? Either way, it sounds like your oneway bearing is slicked up, or damaged. More details, and i can help more.

You need to take the roto start back plate off the truck. Once you do that, take a look at your one way bearing. First observe how much fuel and oil is on it. If its real oily, then this is probably caused from really rich settings, or flooding the motor, and using the roto while flooded. If the one way bearing appears to be in good shape, clean it, and put it back on. If it still slips, then you need to replace it. Those one way bearings get damaged easily when using a roto start.

well I did some more hard core inspecting with a mag glass and this bearing has a crak from one side to the other so you were right on the money.

Ya, i figured that was the problem. Its very common. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a one way bearing online for ya. If i find one, i'll post it here.

you might want to give HPI a call, since it is a very common thing to happen to these engines so i hear... i think it is the same bearing as HPI's .21 engine........ but give them a call, and they will help you out, they have good customer service
