Hi, it's cool to see a reply about this old kit, I would be intereseted in the wheelbase length and if you have any pics with factory body, also I am interested what you payed for yours down there in the usa. I guess most of all I am really interested to see the manual of this kit to see if it shows how the kit is put together. I have been thinking of getting one of these kits, once in a while they are advertised on our local buy and sell papers. Do you still run this kit of yours?

I also own a Mean Mudder, but it has not run in years. When it did I was pretty happy with it until I needed some parts. I would love to get it runnin again. If you all know how to get parts I would love to know.

FINALY!!!, I have managed to find a half decent kit, the only drag is I got no factory body with it (the cage was some kind of factory option). Many newbies won't have a clue about this rare 80's kit, here's some pics. This kit has a factory 13 inch wheel base and Skywards own .21 engine based on the picco p5, the tires are over 7 inches tall, close to about the same size as the A/E MGT. I think this kit is based or is the same as another old kit... the Tornado/Hunter
Udisco http://www.udisco.com still has parts listed http://www.udisco.com/hobbies/inv/SKYW08.htm

RE: MEAN MUDDER monster truck
I hope my upload worked.
Well here's my seriously hurtin' mean mudder. It's part of the way disassembled, part by me, and by the tree it hit near top end. (Don't let friends drive your gas truck) Thanks to the Boss I may be able to get this thing running again.
I agree with some that this does resemble a lifted buggy, but I assure you that it would be one very overwieght buggy. The frame and gearboxes are very truck like, and the lower center of gravity helped this thing fly.
Sorry that there is no original body as it was not at all salvageable. The body mount system was pretty bunk anyways. There is now doubt that I have my work cut out for me.
P.S. Check out the bumper placement on the box photo, looks like a serious digger waiting to happen.

Old 8scale nitro stuff is neat to have and collect.
Hey, do you have the body for yours??? and the box it came in???
I am not sure what the deal is with the Hobby Lobby stuff but the old 80's Hunter also looks like it is basicly the same kit.

Nope, the body took some serious damage in the major crash. Mind you this crash was probably a decade ago, so I have lost track of some stuff. I had mine painted with silver metallic paint, and was especially fond of the big evil smile decal on the hood.

I remember seeing an article about the Tornado in RC Car Action way back in the day. It was what prompted me to get the Mean Mudder. Cool find with that advertisement. And that 1/4 scale sprint looks amazing, I had no idea that edlebrock ever did a R/C. Hope you find one.

Hey Boss check out the thread labled Vintage Gas Car Question. There is a picture of a slightly tricked out Mean Mudder. the rear suspension has been lengthened and the owner changed some of the servo location. You may be able to locate a factory body through this person.
When I rebuild mine I may try to do some similar mods.
I thought this may interest you since you now own one of these.

Its in the 1/8 Scale Gas Buggies forum. I get to it by searching forums for "vintage car" and it was started by Speakermaker.
