Default Monster Truck racing.

OK, I just got the new RC Car action mag for May, and it has the results of the Dirt Nitro Challenge, and I was really surprised with the unlimited monster truck results. The results are
1. Richard Saxton- Associated MGT
2. Dean Sexton- JT Conversion
3. Kendall Bennett- Kyosho Conversion
4. Bob Tillman- Mugen Conversion
5. Garen Hagobian- GS Racing Sut
The reason that I am surprised is the fact that a traditional style monster has beaten these buggy converted trucks. I like to see traditional monster trucks beat these ex-buggies. The XTM mammoth may have won if Jeff Guest didn't lose rear wheel drive. But, an almost stock MGT beat these converted buggies. OK, do you guy's think its fair for traditional style monsters,( savage, MGT, T-maxx) to race against converted buggies, or do you think it should stay how it is. But anyway, I like to know that my savage or big block t-maxx can beat truggies. Just my 2 cents

Well, i've read alot of results on that same race as well. In fact you can go to the EB mods site and read about how angry they were that a soo called pro driver turned his radio on during a race. Then you can go to the GS site and read the results and thoughts they posted. They will mention that all of their team drivers had some sort of failure. Mechanical that is. Races are won by drivers, very good drivers. A savage or a maxx can easily win those same races with the right driver. You've gotta remember, that was the UNLIMITED class, thats why truggies were allowed to race against the other trucks. There is no roar standard for a monster truck yet, so they break them down into classes like that. Adam Drake is gonna be driving a Losi LST this year at some major events. I think things will get real interesting when he does.

Nope, not really. Im pretty excited about any new truck. The thing that makes the LST a little more interesting this year is that Losi being Race oriented will have some excellent drivers behind it. The next few years will be very interesting with AE and Losi in the game now. Simply because all of the fanatical buyers of both companies. I think those are two companies that fans would stand by even if they were both a total POS. Honestly i would really like to see a good driver take a savage to the unlimited class. As far as im concerned with MT's these days, traxxas started this craze, and HPI took it to a new level with the durability and power of the savage. I have my reasons why i sold my MGT, and many reasons why i want that Losi.

I agree it's like 90-95% driver. All of those trucks can be made competitve, obviously the truggy designs are going to closest to where they need to be. Some "Uber Driver" could drive a stock Savage, T-Maxx, or whatever and beat everyone. I think the current set up is cool where only traditional MT's race, it should be subdivided into big block and small block classes, the unlimited MT w/ truggies and what not as long as they have big tires etc. They should also have a true unlimited class with MT's, Buggies, half tracks, tanks, whatever, that would be awesome. I like truggies.

I agree with thermal on the fact that I would love to see a pro driver drive a savage to a title. I think that would be awesome. I also agree with muad that traditional trucks should be divided from the truggies. But, its all about the driver and if a traditional truck can bet a truggy, then some might argue to leave it as it is.

Many of the "Big" races do divide the stock MTs from the modified/Truggies, I think that's fair
the Dirt only had one class in MT

That is an impressive run for MGT and Richard Saxton, a win in MT and two more Pro A-main finishes in that crowd is awesome. Full results look here http://www.thedirtracing.com/dirtNCmains.htm

I wasn't dishin' ya Thermal I was just thinking to myself how much you sound like I did before the AE MGT came out. I just couldn't wait although I had to for almost a year but I am really enjoying the truck and it has been a nice addition to the fleet.

Well, they are in California for that race, so they are about 3-3 1/2 hours behind me here in Michigan. Depending on how many mains they had, they are probably still racing. I believe that race has lights for night time too. Im really hoping somebody snagged some pics of that Losi on that track. A video would just be awesome! I really wanna know how well it did, and if it finished the race. Seeing that the truck isnt released yet, it may have bugs. However, if Drake wins that long a-main today, then we know the Losi has been tested really well. Testing doesnt get much better than having a team driver run it 2 days in a row, several hours each day.
