Man, i just got my new issue of RCCA. After seeing that pimped out mammoth in there with the blue and white body, it got me a little interested. Then i went to that mammoth forum and read some real nightmare stories about that truck. How has the mammoth held up for you mammoth owners? After jumps and tumbles too.

Well, there is alot of talk about the shock towers bending and breaking real easy. Some complaints of chassis flexing, and bending as well. Other complaints seemed like user error to me. How pricey are the hopups for the mammoth? The truck is like 360 right?

Chassis flex? nah that has to be after jumping off a building lol. It has a 3mm chassis with braces. And as i have heard the handeling is aweosme due to it being low, long, and wide. ALso not too mention the 52mph speed but not as much low end as a savage. The engine is super reliable and not bad power (2.6 hp) Yes its on sale for 369.994 at hobbypeople because of their spring break sale.

3mm isnt anything to brag about on a completely flat chassis. Especially one that is really long. I'll have to check it out myself at the LHS.

Yep, the towers are weak. I havent priced the 5mm aluminum towers, but the CF ones are.........$125 YIPES! Those are NOT on my immediate list of things to get. Chassis braces are available too. I havent priced this stuff yet, but HobbyPeople sell all of it if you want to check them out. The carbon towers are aftermarket. Bottom line is, when you do the upgrades, you have a brutal, dependable vehicle. For a $360 RTR Monster Truck that goes over 50mph, its pretty much in a class of its own. The truck is an animal.
Oh, the Mammoth does not use normal hexes. So, to put T-Maxx/Savage wheels on you need adaptors.

Ok, i'll head over to that site and price the XTM hop ups for it. The initial price of the truck is real good, so i dont mind a few hop ups. I'll take a look at it in my LHS soon, and maybe i'll pick one up with that new white and blue body. Of course, im not doing anything until i see the new traxxas lineup they are showing tomorrow. hehehe
Oh, and yes i have MSN messenger. Feel free to look me up on there. Im sure you can find me by searching for scooby_WRX, or my e-mail address [email protected]
Thanks, Matt

I do realize that but i cant really see any flex.

This truck is a candidate for a roll cage in which case you would not need stiffer shock towers as the cage would protect them, and stop the chassis flex.

Its not a real bad thing, but it is there........only because it has a wicked amount of horsepower and the long flat chassis Actually, I think it looks awesome watching it lift the left front. Kind of like an 8 second drag car with too much grip.
