Delimma....upgrade or buy new
I am a PROUD owner of a CEN MT2. The only problem is when racing, I am going up against 1/8 scale trucks. I can hold my own against them no problem, but my question is:
1. go to Renegade R/C and buy the wheel adapters and put Savage/Tmaxx tires and wheels on them to beef it up a little or
2. get a Savage/Mammoth and say the heck with it. I LOVE my MT2 but.........
either way I am going to keep the MT2 but do I need to spend $400 on a bigger truck or $150 and make this one bigger? Also, does anybody know (and I mean ACTUALLY KNOW) if the tires/wheels will make the MT2 even close to the size of the tmaxx/savage? I know the wheelbase is still smaller but will it have the appearance of a larger truck?
Thanks

Well if i was you i would not know what do do. Thats a hard choice. The mt2 will never really be a 1/8 scale. Its basically a stadium ttruck with big wheels. Its only about i think 17 inches long while 1/8 scale trucks go abpout 22 inches long. The cen has a small block .16 engine while all 1/8 scale trucks have a .21 or bigger. I myself would keep the cen and then go buy aq mammoth so you will have both lol[>:][8D]

RE: Delimma....upgrade or buy new
Why not start with the 150 and upgrade the MT2, see what you think. If you dont like the changes its alot easier to save up another 150 and then buy a different truck. upgrading to the maxx wheels will widen the stance of the truck and give it a little more ground clearance. And since you want 1/8th scale look you could always get the extended race chassis, I cant remember who makes it though, its either JT or Renegade.

I know Renegade was talking about it, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere on his site.
If I did that.........
Also, there was an article on Wildhobbies about JT having the hopups and even showed a picture of new shocktowers that go on the new chassis, but there is nothing on it since.....

see if you could mod or fabricate a 21 conversion in it
it would then have the same power output at a fraction of the weight and size I would also to the tmaxx wheel adaptor and get some really light whels

I would buy the Mammoth and keep your MT2 as a small block toy. The Mammoth will impress the heck out of you. I do not mind the MT2, but its just a baby compaired to the other trucks out there. You could upgrade the heck out of it and still get run over by the Mammoth. The Mammoth has proven its self lately to be a good truck, the only upgrade it needs is the shock towers. other than that, its awsome out of the box. The Savage is a great truck as well, its not quite as big as the Mammoth, but its about the best basher there is now. The Mammoth will still outrun almost anything out there right now.

Holy crap that thing is HUGE!!!! I am leaning towards your idea. Which has more low end punch......the Savage or Mammoth? I really like the Mammoth and everybody around here has the Savages. But I do not want to be at a disadvantage when it comes to racing. Top end speed will not be reached so I need the "punch" off the corners.
Thanks

Sorry but the savage has more low end punch but at the global forums you will hear that people all ways drag race with their mammoths and savges and woop the savages by a long shot! Plus if you have a track you will kill thyem on there. The mammoth is low, long, and wide which gives it excellent handeling. Plus the engine is more powerful and much mopre reliable and userfriendly than the savge's Plus the mammoths on sale price for 369.99$ !!!!!!!

I would say upgrade the reson is
the mammoth costs $370 then you still have to tune the trucks setup
now you could take that $370 and perfect the MT2 witht he wheel adapters a more powerful engine and pipe or waht ever else could tweak your setup.

I have raced the Mammoth against the Savage and a BB T-maxx. the Savage and the Maxx get it off the line, but the Mammoth catches up real quick and pulls away. I love to start off 10 to 15' behind the maxx and catch up and still pass them. Its real fun. And the Maxx and the Mammoth both have the same engine so that is not a factor.

RE: Delimma....upgrade or buy new
here is the deal. The track I will be racing primarily on has a 100' backstretch, 2 60' short-shoots and then an off-road infield.
(the track layout is an outside oval w/ offroad infield.) The start will be on the 100' straightaway. If we started on one end of it, would the mammoth catch up to the tmaxx and Savage by the end?
Sorry so many questions, I just have never seen a mamoth in person before so I am trying to guage what it is like.

RE: Delimma....upgrade or buy new
Ok let me clarify, In the statement above, the T-maxx that I was racing has the XTM BB conversion on it and has a 24/7 in it. it is the same motor that is in the Mammoth. It is not the 24/7 Pro. So when I said that both the Mammoth and the T-maxx had the same motor I was compairing those two trucks themselves. In that statement the engines were the same so the compairason was between two BB (Big Block) trucks. in those races (and there were many) the victor was always the Mammoth. the races took place on a blacktop parking lot. average temp was close to 45degrees F.

Screw it....I think I am going to beef up the MT2 AND get the Mammoth.[>:][>:] I do not want what everybody else around here has(hence the MT2).
