The best engine would be the Ofna Picco .26 (buy it from a reputable seller on ebay, RCBoyz(will cost about $170, £94)), fit the 2 speed and a pipe like the Ofna 086.
I have that all fitted to my Dominator and it is wickedly fast. I have also just bought all the aluminium suspension upgrades from a seller on ebay
for a fraction of their retail cost.

The picco is a good buy. The 2 speed IMO is a pain to get to work right. Shift's really hard and you have to keep a eye on it. Not that reliable IMO. The slipper is nice less trouble and the Diff is the best. First thing to do is change the bushing out in the steering and put bearings in. The response will be super smooth. Then it really depends on what gives you trouble. You have many options. So be more specific as to what your looking to do with it. I hope this helps.

CNC steering slider/Ackerman is nice to have w/bearings
I bought an extra hyper7 pro steering linkage set up on ebay and installed all the turnbuckles, etc.
works way nicer for set up tuning adjustments

What are you intending to do, race or just bash?
If you want just WOT top end speed then the 086 pipe will help a lot over that POS pipe that comes with it. I run a more torque pipe on mine, beacuse I want more bottom end,I raced it on a short technical track

I'd agree that the 2 speed is a little finicky, and if you get it, get the steel gears, If you run the plastic gears any little change in the mesh will strip that gear out fast.
