Default AIR FILTERS???

I just stepped on my air filter and crushed it to pieces[&o]...Anyone have suggestions on them? Different types/prices??? Do the super expensive ones have that much performance gain or just eye candy or do they do more than keep dirt out of the carb/engine??? Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

Motor Saver air filters have worked for me, around $10-$15. They are just as good as anything else out there, even better than some that cost more.

Thanks...actually I was looking at those today at the LHS ($20-there-little steep) but didnt want to specify in the thread to keep people veering off of the subject. I just want different people's input. I'm ordering some new tires from tower hobby so I'll check their price. If not then maybe back to the LHS. Thanks again.

i also agree about the motor saver. the better air filters give noticable performance and they do not let dirt into the engine. they are worth the price to me.

the nice thing about the motorsaver air filter is that it is a 2 stage filter ... compared to most others being a single stage filter ...

I have never really seen a big performance gain from using a different filter. If any change at all. You will have to retune the motor if you are going from a really tiny air filter to something huge. The biggest benefit of a nice air filter is keeping the engine clean, and helping it last longer.

Motorsavers are great. I use them on my truck's. I dont have the money to rebuild an engine just because I was to careless to pop on a filter and motorsaver does a fine job it is worth the 18$

motor savers are 3-stage i thought. they have the off-road little thing that is around them. then they have the steel mesh, and then they have the foam in the middle.

Any 2 stage foam/foam filter will do the job, it's really up to you to determine how well it works by keeping it clean and properly oiled. I've seen plenty of folks struggling with what seems to be a balky engine only to discover they have WAY too much oil in their filter foam.

I REALLY agree, We've been trying to troubleshoot an MGT dual tank setup and found that without the filter it is fine, (too much oil and it does not flow enough air) The type of oil matters also, the really sticky stuff like AE filter oil you dont need as much of to get the job done.
