When you run a tank out with the motor, you are leaning the motor out, which can cause serious damage, and definately shorten the lifespan of the motor. My suggestion, would be to stop the engine at the flywheel from underneath the car, with your finger....or some other foreign object. My second suggestion, would be to just plug the exhaust with your finger, the only problem with that, is it can put unnecessary backpressure on the motor.

Leaning out the motor with an empty tank, is definately not on my list, of how to stop my R/C

I did that once I had a round burn on my finger for 3 weeks.

but its the same thing as pinching the feul line, isnt it? also when your done bashing your supposed to start up the engine to burn out the fuel in hte lines and carb to prevent it from combining with the miosture and causeing corrosion. i dont think theres any thing wrong w/running the tank dry but thats just MHO.

When mine gets real low and starts to lean out I just go easier on it. If its real close and hasn't died yet ill tip the truck in the direction of the fuel pickup to get the last of it out. If i dont have that much time ill suck the rest out with the filler bottle and then let it die.

As long as your not redlining it when it runs dry. I usually let mine idle till it runs out then do the after run oil thing.
