mammoth
i still have not broke in my mammoth. but in the book it says to run it for 2-3 minutes and let it cool for ten minutes and then tuen the hsn 1/8 turn in before you start it agian. do that until you have ran the motor for 45 minutes. this is what im supposed to do right? my step dads friend got a mammoth and just let it run for 45 minutes and now the motor wont stay running. but i really turn the hsn 1/8 in each time because by the time im done it will be like all the way leaned out.

RE: mammoth
it should come with a video..but if not, for a proper break in 1st tank set it at factory settings, after 1 tank lean it up about 1/8th of a turn, 2nd tank turn another 1/8th after, etc. till about 5-6 tanks, you will see it start to be faster..after 5-6 tanks tune it to its best...oh yeah for first tank richen or lean til it barely runs..

RE: mammoth
yeah.....your first few tanks it will hardly move.....DO NOT HOLD THE GAS ON FOR MORE THAN 3 SECONDS!!!! the book is correct. The needle is set so rich it will not be in all the way. if you think about it you could turn it 8 times and it will only be 1 complete turn. And it will still be about 3 turns out.
Trust the book......

RE: mammoth
ok in the book it says run the motor for 2-3 mins and then let it cool for 10 mins then turn the needle in 1/8 turn and run for 2-3 mins and repeat until you have ran the motor for a total of 45 mins. I plan on breaking it in with 16% trinity fuel and useing a stop watch and do exactly what the book says. when i done breaking it in it says i can change up to 30%. this is the way to do it right? and when i run it for 2-3 mins do i stop the motor by squezeing the gas lines? i dont want to do that because it will lean the motor and thats not good during break in. i also plan to give it no more then half thorrotle the hole time i break it in.

RE: mammoth
but 45 mins of run time doesent seem like enough to break it in i think i will do the break in thing for like a hour and 15 mins just to be safe.

RE: mammoth
The more you break it in the better it will run and last. Don't even think about 30% unless you are going to install a head shim. These motors run great on 20% and even better on 30%, when tuned properly.
