RE: GS Storm Unlimited Truck
It's won 2 out of the 3 major races it's run in since its release
Pretty much says it all
Be aware, new ROAR MT rules are being developed, so you'll be racing in the "Outlaw" class at any ROAR race with Doms. Bergs, SUTs and conversions.
At the local club races? you'll be spanking the Comp (if you can handle it)
Hum, that all may make no diff in Norway

RE: GS Storm Unlimited Truck
I have an sut that you could pretty much call a pro. A more experienced friend of mine disassembled it and reassembled it on a fioroni chassis. Also, I have a friend who painted an sut body for me. I will be taking it to the track tomorrow. I will post some pics and a list of all the hop-ups on it sometime this weekend. By the way, another friend of mine won the A main at the Battle at the Beach in Ft. Walton Beach FL about two months ago and had supermaxx's, savages, and truggies down one lap and in some cases by two. I've seen it in action and I can't wait to race mine.

its a great racing truck...handles good with upgraded steering servo with more torque...jumps good...and accelerates good...if you are just bashing you might run into a little trouble with ground clearance, but you can fix that up also with a few mods

Because the stock GS servos are junk (in my experience) and the steering drag link is too thin even for the Storm buggy, but it's WAY too weak for the SUT with those big tires sticking out. I'm just disappointed they didn't address such a glaring problem. Just using a thicker plate will solve the problem, or at least minimize it, and that'd be really cheap for them to do.
Otherwise I really like the truck.

Also, it's an RTR and RTR's are low cost versions of the real thing. If you want a better truck, spend the extra money and get a Storm Pro buggy and the SUT Pro Conversion. Good things are not hard to come by, all it takes is money.

RE: GS Storm Unlimited Truck
I know, it all adds up for the manufacturer, but if there are a couple nagging problems with a vehicle, how many vehicle sales do they lose because of it? When the Savage 21 came out there were some things that weren't great about it. Some time later they came out with the Savage 25 which fixed most of what wasn't great about he Savage 21. It cost a little more for the consumer, but they're selling like hotcakes.
I guess my point is that the link was marginal at best in the Storm, I wish they'd have fixed that problem when they released the SUT. They didn't, I still bought it, and I still like it. And they got another few bucks out of me because I bought a second stock steering drag link to double them up on my buggy, so I guess it all works out for GS Racing!

I was referring to the drag link, not the upper deck plates. The Storm Pro kit gives you a thicker 7075 drag link with bearings. Much better than the RTR plate, but I hear the racers are still doubling those up for the SUT.

The bogging sounds like improper tuning to me and If you're driving skills are up to par, you break less. However, when it comes to this hobby, you will break things. That's why rc distributors make parts available.

It shouldn't bog. I know it needs a little umpf to get it rolling, that's because of the weight. But it should not bog. Mine holds a GREAT tune and has no problem what so ever.
