i have a savage too, and love it, but in a bakyard? only if you have BIG one. my savage needs a lot of room to play in. in fact, i got a wild willy 2 just to have something to play with around the neighborhood, since the savage is so, well (ok, i hate to say it, but...) savage.

This is a quote from the August '04 issue of Xtreme r/c :
Rough Track Handling- OK, get the tape recorder out. This is going to upset some monster truck owners. Ready? The Revo handles the rough stuff better than any other monster truck I've ever driven. One of the construction sites looked as if the Mars Rover landing could have been filmed there. It was nothing but large rocks, dirt clods, dried out tire trcks, you name it. The Revo went through, over, or around everything while maintaining an outrageous ammount of control. And this was with the 90 mm ground clearance. With the 120mm rockers and springs installed, the truck was even sicker over the rough stuff.
The article was written by Mike Velez, one of the senior editiors in that magazine.
Enough said, I think.

Stock for Stock, the MGT handles the rough stuff much better than the Savage. It has more ground clearance, bigger tires, bigger overall size, plusher suspension, you name it, the MGT has it all for off roading. The Savage suspension is just too stiff. The center of the chassis where everything is mounted is also unprotected on the Savage. A large piece of grass, or something could lodge in the tranny and rocks can get into the dogbone outdrives. The MGT's underside is all aluminum, so it can handle whatever comes its way. And, despite the on-paper stats, the MGT is faster over rough ground. The suspension and CVD's (very nice on an RTR BTW) get the power down better. As far as other types of bashing, the two trucks are pretty well even durability wise. Most people will agree that the MGT is better over jumps too. The Revo looks nice, but knowing Traxxas, (T-Maxx) it will probably be quite fragile. The Revo just doesn't look like a basher. This is all IMO.

i saw a MGT, savage, and t-maxx bashing together once. they all broke something, but they werent from driving (ppl who controlled them broken them while "adjusting" something). IMO go with what your lhs carries.
