I don
t have a Mammoth, but I did have a xtm 24.7 engine in my Maxx before
Try and keep it under 240deg if posible, 220-230 is ideal

I'm sure that I like to run my engine down in the 220-230 range rather than the 280deg range
But it's a big wonderful world, everybodies different
Good luck

p.s. check the temp after about a minute of normal driving then again and again until you get it in the range you like.

One thing to remember is that ususally, the engines get damaged a lot in the short time that things go wrong. Not much wear takes place when all is going well.

I personally like to "tune" my engines for performance but I'm picky about keeping it below a certain temperature.

If you run it hot, make sure you fuel and needle settings are up to the job. If you have a low oil fuel, I would flirt with danger too much because a lean running condition caused by.. say a kinked fuel line can quickly damage your engine by overheating it!
