RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
There are several different versions of each. Its best to go over to Ofnas' site and check them out. The last time i checked, it seemed like the MP sport had the best of both trucks.

RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
The Ofna site is so bad, the info there is so often out of date.
Originally The Dom had a slipper on the tranny spool and different bumpers, besides the Rims/Tires that's about it.
What theraml is saying is There are new versions like the Extreme (all aluminum)
Then the 80% built kits that come without Radio gear
At one time they had a Roller only, no radio or engine.
I think all the newer RTRs are coming with the 8-port and the 2 speed tranny
They only show the RTR at Nitrohouse now, that leads me to believe that's all they're producing now.
I think The dom soon will be discontinued since Supposedly they are working on a Hpyer 7 Truggy/ conversion kit. Ala the GS SUT type

RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
Take a look athe Ofna Blazer SST. NEW truggy, based on the 9.5 Violator.
Force .26 motor. Two sets of wheels. Anyone who says the Force .26 is a POS can't break-in or tune... [&:]
Mine runs great.
I have one and I do like it. I have a thread for it I'll bump up, as I have new info for it

What color head did it have
Mine came with the black head and I've always assumed it's the 4-port
But after this thread[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/OFNA_PRODUCT_DECEPTION%3F/m_2268294/tm.htm]8 port thread[/link]
I think it might be a 8-port
I'll have to pull the P/S and see

Nice truck, almost makes me want to keep mine
You should try the 15mm ofna hub extenders
They really smooth out the truck

Dont go selling your Doms [] for a newer over designed truck...thats why i love my Dom its stance and simple design.. Many MT have been and gone, iv got a LST now but the Dom's stayed.....Im guessing that the 15 ofna hub extenders widen the truck by 30mm. Have you got a part no.?

RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
already sold mine Via ebay,
I didn't sell it for a different truck, Still have my H7 truggy and I'm not going to get another
Thinking electric down the road a bit..
Just getting rid of stuff I'm not using to concentrate on 1/8th scale
Yes the 15mm ones are 15mm each, 30mm overall wider
Really help knock down the traction rolling characteristics

RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
I've heard there can be issues with the diffs going out, and issues with the 2spd wearing quickly, is this true, or not? I like to head off problems before they have a chance to occur. I just don't know enough people who have this truck, and have not read much on it in the forums. Id like to see more about the dominators/pirates etc.
Thanks

RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
Well, I was lucky with the diffs,, they do wear faster than regular stlye diffs do
but there are realitively cheap to rebuild when the do go bad,,
The 2 speed is a little tricky to set up,, but once you do it seams solid,, the only thing is, you must have it bolted down tight,, if you get any flex/movement and the gear mesh gets off it really tears up the gears fast.
I think it's really more of a basher truck now,, there are other more capable race truggies on the market,,
Would I buy another one?? No sorry to say I wouldn't,
I'd rather spend the cash on a HB Stadium pro or even a revo (for bashing) for that matter
Ofna will (suppposedly) be coming out with a Hyper7 truggy,, when?? anyones guess

RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
What goes out in the diffs?
I'm thinking about getting a MP to replace my Savage but I want something that will last more than 3 quarts without blowing the diffs apart.
Especially since I plan on adding a stronger motor later on.

RE: Monster Pirate ? Dominator???
Its not really the diff itself the mesh between the diff and pinion, the plastic case can flex underload so its needs to be shimmed to get the mesh spot on....When upgrading to bigger engines you can also get alloy diff bulks which will reduce the flex totally.
Coming from a Savage your be very impressed with the Dom's buggy like handling....
