Default Broke My GLOWSTARTER

Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Apparently I stripped the threads on it!

I didn't even know it had threads!?!
I thought about trying to use something
like JB Weld, but a pal of mine said it
might not be conductive.

or just put it together and when you need to start the truck just put it on the plug and push down, it works

it works... sorta. the damn thing won't stay straight. the second i let the pressure off it flops over to one side.

oatmealman: lets see 'em. I've forgotten my starter and walked off, but never while the MT was running.
Pakfan: It stripped the threads

argh.

Well for a McGyver type fix JB weld the threads then solder a jumper wire from the case to the outside of the stinger if it proves non-conductive.

Hope this helps

Peace

solder it instead of JB weld. Sweat the solder like you would on pipes. Solder is stronger then you think, esp with flux.

i just read [link=http://www.misterfixit.com/nosweat.htm]this hilarious description[/link] of sweat soldering and it seems pretty easy. The only question I have is if I'll be able to heat the starter enough with just a 40 watt soldering iron. After all, its basically a big metal heatsink.

Pinolelst: Your idea makes a good plan b, but I'm not sure how well that'll work b/c of the anodizing.

LOL, Jesus, what are they 20 bucks? Go buy another one ya cheap skate Get the orange dubro recharging one cheap and durable. Plus it is pretty small but more than long enough to get in any cooling head.

I had the same exact thing happen to me with my dynamite glow starter. Tried to solder it but the aluminum case acts like a heat sink and won't stick.Besides, it will just fall apart. Best advise, get a new one and save the battery as a spare .....
