New Stampede coming....
After 20 years, I desided to get back into R/C cars/trucks. A new Stampede should be here in the next couple days and I would like to know if there is anything I should do to it from the start to beef it up so that it handles my rookie status until I gain a handle on driving this thing. It is my thought to run this thing into the ground, learning all there is to learn so that I will be ready for my next truck, (the Revo)
Any help you folks have to offer would be awsome, to get me back into this hobby.

RE: New Stampede coming....
If your going to get new stampede I would recomend replacing the steering servo. Becuase if you dont it will strip.
Get the futaba s3003 high torque servo its what I had ever since i have gotten my stampede 2 years ago.
Its about$10-$15 depending on hobby store.

This is the truck to learn to tune on and or refresh your tuning skills. I would suggest go out and have a blast, don't be afraid to break parts etc, because it will happen.
My first trucks were an hpi rush, a duratrax nitro mt. they were both fun trucks and cheap to break and fix.

Go to the Traxxas forums on www.traxxas.com they have a FAQ question as well.
Bearings http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXD125
Carriers for the bearings - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXNY90
Carriers for the bearings front - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXNY89
Tires - need two pair - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXUM93
(tires are the single biggest improvement you can make, stock ones blow!)
Wheels (several designs, this is what I ordered)
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXMV44
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXMV46
Diff Lude (big performance gains, makes the diff act like a posi) http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXFTY0
Better Motor and parts needed for the motor (this is what I have)
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXDVC3
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXEX10
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXTJ21
Alum. Shock Caps (need two pair)
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJG94&P=ML
Alum. Idler gear (stripped the plastic one with more torque from the better motor and grippy tires)
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJJ94&P=7
RPM wide front bumper- (protects shocks, a must have)
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXEV91&P=ML
RPM camber links (nice upgrade when your nephews destroy the stock ones )
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEW01&P=7
Other than the shock caps, that is everything I have and it's pretty stout, but as always, upgrades are endless depending on the money and how insane you get, but those that I just showed you are great.

RE: New Stampede coming....
the S3003 isn't good enough for the pede...i went through three of them before upgrading to a Hitec HS605MG (in my 'pede)...which stripped about 3 weeks later.
I dunno what kinda wimpy driving YOU'RE doing that an S3003 survives:P
pony up to the HS645MG.

RE: New Stampede coming....
just one question why would you put the s3003 in over the high torque one it comes with. the s3003 is a futaba standard servo.
but along the lines of futaba i would recomend a s3305 high torque servo with metal gears, i have put it in 3 nitros, and it shows no signs of wear. heres a link http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDWF8&P=ML
