RAMTraxx -- Got Traxx??

RE: RAMTraxx -- Got Traxx??
No sorry, i'm still a little confused. I've never made a tire on my own. I prefer to buy them from the tire store, plus I don't have the equipment needed to manufacture my own tires (does anyone?)
I know that a tire consists of molded rubber around steel belting, with a slotted surface on the outside for traction (also known as tire tread). Semi and tractor tires often reuse their old, worn out tires, by having a new band of treaded rubber molded to the outside of the tire (also known as a re-tread). Does that sound about correct?[&:]
Ok, I think I have the concept of what a tire is. Now what?

No, you have to buy the whole truck to get the body. I kept the truck and put the round wheels on it for my 5 year old.

I don't know how you can buy the body or tracks by themselves. Maybe Element can enlighten us how and where to do that.
I've tried them, and they work well. I have to make steel parts for it now, so they will last. I had aluminum in the garage, so I used that.

RE: RAMTraxx -- Got Traxx??
Ramtech,Can you give me some spec's on those track's? what I need is the footprint(length by width)and center of the axl to the ground.I think these would be perfect for a project I'm drawing up for my t4 "snowmobile"! I would like to make sure they will be a good size before I buy a $100 truck just for the track's!
Thank's for any help

The footprint is 6.5 long x 2" wide. The bottom to centerlien of the axle is 3". Some one else is working on getting me a Radio Shack part number to roder the track assemblies by themselves.

RE: RAMTraxx -- Got Traxx??
The first thing you have to do is make an extension axle. If you can take the ones off the RS truck, then thats a good start. I kept my truck as is, and gave it to my 5 year old. I made the axles out of aluminum to make it easier to machine in my garage. Then, you have to make a little sheet meetal piece to keep the track assembly from rotating. Once you buy the RS truck you will see what I'm talking about. Its easy if you ahve the equipment, but hard if you don't have a lathe and milling machine in your garage. I guess you could do it with a dremel and some time.

Those seem the perfect size if you find out how to get the track's alone please post it.
do you think you could make some axle extension's for a t4 and how much do you think it would cost just a ballpark figure I know it would be hard to estimate.I could send you my t4 if need be.
Thank's agian

Thanks Element, your my hero. My wife was freaking that I spent $100 on a truck just for the tracks. I hope your not a manager at Radio Shack, cause I'm bringing my slightly used truck back, and buying the assemblies seperate. Thanks for the help though.

RE: RAMTraxx -- Got Traxx??
Do you know the axle thread size of the T4? I'll be making a few different sizes this weekend, and I'll try and make some for you. I'm pretty sure I figured a way to mount them on any truck, with a little modification by the end user. I should have the RS4 MT running with real gear in a few weeks.
