Default Winter Traction

Hey all, I want to learn an effective way for traction during the winter. Last year, I just stuck nails through the tires (Stupid Idea), it worked surprisingly well but also wrecked my tires for summer (that didnt matter anyway cuz my stupid Ultra motor died). Any tips would be helpful,. thank yuh[:-]

lol nails throught the tire aint that bad of an idea, all you needed to do for summer is take out the nails and then take some tire compound and seal them up agian.

Coming from Minnesota Originally, I can tell you just about anythign you could ever want to know about how to get around on snow and ice [8D]

We used to race quads and bikes on the ice. What worked exceptionally well, was to have a spare set of Knobby Tires (usally a semi-worn set that wasn't much good for the dirt anymore) and run hex head sheet metal screws into the knobs (short enough ones that they didn't puncture the tubes of course). The knobs on RC tires as too small for this, but imagine the traction of sheet metal screws run from the INSIDE of the, witht he points sticking out. When they wear down, unscrew them and put in a new set of screws.

This won't help for snow, but for ice, I can't imagine anything better. I gree that some sand paddles would be the go for snow.

paddles hav no side bite, so even with 4 wheel drive, if u put paddles on the front, u will have a hard time steering.

I don't have much of a trouble running my stock maxx tires in the snow it doesn't seem to stop . The paddles might give you some "SNOWWYROAST"

Do the chains work well? And is'nt it dangerous to have chains, they could fly off the tires, right?

Don't bother buying them from ebay. They're easy to make. I made some last year for my Savage. They didn't help much in deep snow but I got some bite on thin snow on pavement. If I put them back on this year they're only going on the rear.

I saw the chains selling for $0.99 on eBay with $2-$3 dollar shipping...and I took a gander at some sellers feedbacks and the buyers seemed to be very happy with their purchases.
