Default TNX and MGT (OWNERS or WITNESS!!!!!!)

Are you happy with your MGT or TNX? any comments/Pros/Cons...My girfriend told me she'll buy me a new MT and i narrowed it down to TNX or MGT. I want something bad-ass, but easy to work on.and something to handle a Big Block swap...my savage is a pain in the arse when it gets broke..lol..lol..i have 4 days to decide.I do a lil bashing and track running.i do want something that can handle to the track well....I've never seen either run, but have heard good things and read good articles..I alreday know about the limited aftermarket support for the TNX and the shock issue with the MGT...what else good or bad is there for these 2.....Thankx all for your help and comments in this matter....

well if your planning todo a big block swap, the MGT is the way togo, less money for you to spend.
tnx pros
- nice speed
- good handling
- i would say easy to work on
- durable
- OS engine
cons
- no adjustable chamber
- no dual pickup in tank when you flip
- soft metal head
- the plastic axles have been known to twist
- plastic shocks suck

mgt is the easiest truck to work on and u wouldnt need a conversion for a big block engine..and its good in the tracks too ...u heard about mgt shox well only thing i can say negative about the shox are the fake piggybacks but thats it ...its a good racer and a basher too and u can scratched off that parts availability cuz most hs have parts for mgt

I have/had a lot of trucks, and the MGT is awesome. It's one of my favorites.
However, I don't have a TNX, so I can't give any advice on that truck. I haven't read much of anything negative about it. The small block would bother me, no matter how quick/fast it is.
If your LHS supports the MGT, then that's another positive for it.

My son and I raced our MGTs all last season and did very well. We didn't have any problems with the stock shocks. Steering knuckles were the only thing we broke. These have been the most satisfying RC vehicles we have owned so far. I haven't seen a TNX in action so I can't personally coment though I have read mixed reports about it.

i like my TNX, just look at what tamiyakid said. Thats probably the most. the rest on the truck is pretty durable. the front bumper doesnt bend pretty quick(if u make node dives into the ground) but id rather have it bend than an alu bumper bent =\

I don't own the TNX but the MGT is alot of fun. Jumps great and handles like a dream. The only thing I can say is I don't like the stock shocks. They keep blowing out on me so I went to a firmer spring to stop some of the compression and that seems to have fixed it. Oh...and get some RPM a-arms.

There will be much more support for the MGT obviously, but the TNX has gotten some good reviews. Search for videos on it, it takes a beating pretty well.

A big block will make up for that though...the conversion for a TNX is costly..it will drop right in a MGT.....

I prefer the TNX... The truck simply rocks, very durable, very fast, it's a GREAT racer, and like others said it can take a beating and keep coming back for more. If it were my money, I'd put it on the TNX. The mgt is a good truck, but if you wanna talk to someone that knows their stuff, talk to Niffken. He's VERY well known in the industry for making awesome vids and putting trucks through their paces... The mgt just couldn't take it, I think he blew the tranny like three times and he was pretty dissapointed in the truck. Hey, this is just one person's opinion though and you should make your own choice. Both trucks are fun and both have strengths and weaknesses. You can't go wrong with either, but in my opinion, you should support Tamiya and pick up a TNX. Thanks. ScMc

Yea! Niffken got punked out on the MGT forum for crying all the time! LOL i dont take his opinion serious! The MGT is a awsome truck just like the TNX!! The only thing that the MGT has over the TNX is better support! IMO

Well the TNX isnt lacking aftermarket support... and TowerHobbies has just about every part you could ever need for your TNX. I dont see many shops that stock parts for either truck so where is this "better" support you speak of? Customer support? Tamiya's got us covered... Anything else?
