Which do you like?
My friend just got a T-maxx moster truck the other day. And its pretty bad ass. Its also kinda making me want to get one as well. But I dont really know any thing about them. So I was just wondering which moster trucks do you guys like. What would be a good one to get. I would like to buy a used one with the remote and what not. T-maxx, Savage, ect. What should I look for if buying a used one.

RE: Which do you like?
the real question is,What one do YOU like??!!
we can sit here all day telling you what we like and what we think you should spend your money on,but in the end it really is up to you
you're going to find many biased opinions here and on any board you go to.
I personally own a MGT but i also wouldn't recommend it to just anybody.
it all comes down to how you're going to use it,racing/bashing,some of both?
if just stricktly for bashing i gotta say go with the Savage

RE: Which do you like?
PERSONALLY, i had a t-maxx, it ran great and all, had no real problems or crashes... but i sold it to move up to a truggy.. a GS Racing SUT, cause there are a few good tracks near here, and my t-maxx couldnt keep up..
just my opinion... but its your choice, get what you want.. it may be easier to get parts for it where you live.. i dunno these things..

RE: Which do you like?
Pick one you like, and do some research on it. There's only a few real lemons out there. Me? I picked up a Mad Force earlier this week because
A) I like straight axles
B) From what I've heard, their nearly indestructable (which is good, since I've always run geared down electrics. I'm about to triple my speed.
C) Three gears and a chain drive seemed to fit my style of something.
I mean, I had an eye for the Mad Force, but I looked at what I wanted out of my truck, mainly durability, ballistic stock speed, with straight axles ranking high. My research showed me that the Mad Force seemed more durable than the X-Factor, so I went with it.
Once you've narrowed it down, ask again. Just remember to take what you hear as what it is. "Someone on the Internet that I've never met, nor know nothing about, said...."
As far as recommendations, Savage is supposed to be the durability king. That's the word on the streets anyways. The only reason I'd recommend it over the Mad Force I got is...well, if you've never driven a straight axle truck, it's a whole world apart from independant suspension.

RE: Which do you like?
IMO 8scale is the ONLY way to go... if you new to r/c... go with the 8scale savage, MGT, LST, or any of the other dozen or so 8scale kits out. This is what I like.
EASY CHOICE!... stay away from the smaller 10scale T maxx unless you want to spend extra money just to make it kind of durable... not a good basher compared to 8scale kits. IMO, even for racing I would not even recommend any small 10scale traxxas product for racing because even the bigger 8scale trucks are far better at that too.... This is a fact and my opinon.

Im also just looking for a bashing truck. Dont plan on racing.

RE: Which do you like?
Cmon everyone we know the t-maxx is where the s**t is at. Dont any savage owners take what im about to say personally but i just think that the savage is big heavy and out dated. Sorry to say it but its true. [sm=wink.gif] Im not bashing on anyones trucks or anything but i think it needed to be said.
People dont give the t-maxx enough credit and most people would have a savage over a t-maxx but it is your choice. The t-maxx is a great truck and you wont be disappointed with either. They are both great bashers but the maxx can be setup for racing.

RE: Which do you like?
if you would like a straight bashing MT you have many options.-
1. savage.21 or .25
2. savage ss with new 4.6cc engine.
3. traxxas revo
4. losi lst.
5. trinity spyder.
6. mgt
7. duratrax warhead.
8. kyosho madforce.
these are only suggestions. from personnal experience the savage a good front runner alot tuffer than a t-maxx and faster + it is an amazing jumper
if you would wait for the release of the duratrax warhead in essense it is a modded savage with more options as standard and i would highly recommend

Haha... You say the Savage is outdated? They just released a NEW SS 4.6 kit, where is Traxxas to update the T-maxx?
The T-maxx is the outdated truck here...

RE: Which do you like?
I havent seen it at the track, but bashing it cant be beat. If you thought the SS was badazz, you havent seen anything. This thing has the turning radius of a maxx now, with added power of a .28 engine and the upgraded diffs, this thing is unstoppable.
Dont get me wrong, I still like my maxx, but the HPI stood by their consumers when they asked for something, and HPI delivered it.
They upgraded all that was "wrong" with the Savage, and put a decent price tag on it, AND offered it in kit form. Kudos to HPI.
I would love to see Traxxas update the maxx with some new parts/ideas, but I guess they are working on the Jato and Revo lately...

RE: Which do you like?
I'd wager that the Maxx is going to start going the way of the Stampede now.
It came. It saw. It brought new life into a genre of vehicles. Then, it drifted off.

RE: Which do you like?
Yes, but it's only natural that it will eventually start to slide behind the Revo. Especially as aftermarket support builds for it.
Look at it like this. A new comer to the hobby goes to the hobby shop? He's looking at Traxxas stuff. What's the owner going to push?
"Well, the T-Maxx is a good truck. But the new Revo, also by Traxxas, is faster, and stronger. Basically an all around better truck, out of the box."
I'm not saying that the T-Maxx is just going to fall aside, and get tossed into closests. But I hardly think that it will pull a Clodbuster, and still be selling new kits, what...15 years after the thing was released?
And I think if Traxxas steps up, they'll be stepping up with the Revo. IF.
