Info On the New HPI K4.6 for my LST
Anybody Buy the new HPI K4.6
I was wondering what anyone
thought about the HPI engines
And if this would be a reliable engine
and how much power it had on thier truck?
I was going for added power for my LST
and put my messed up mach26 that I tried
porting in my new MGT.

I was wondering if anyone had advice on the following:
Which of the biggger blocks (.26-.28) are the easiest to tune?

i would stear clear of the new hpi motor, it will be way overpriced and made by force, if you want a good .28 then go with the SH.28

28,000rpm For the SH is the RPM a little low for track I was planning on racing next year!
Sounds like the SH is a stump puller. Does anyone have a SH in their LST and do they have a
video?

the SH produces peak power at 28k, the engine will run on much higher, easyly into the high thirty's,
this is a common misconception that its a low reving engine

and what do most people want in an MT?
TORQUE, that's what!
horsepower is all good and such, but horsepower doesn't pull the front wheels off the ground when ya stab the go-stick

I know, it's odd that the SH .28 is made by SH, isn't it?:P
seriously though, I'd go with the .28. IMO the only reasonably priced engine that'd actually be an upgrade from the 26.
I've often had nice little dreams about an SH .28 in my XTM X-Terminator (also SH powered)

RE: Info On the New HPI K4.6 for my LST
I have a SH in my Dominator and it's a good engine so far. But your setup is still the best way to win a race you can have all the power in the world if you can't use it correctly then it's useless. IMO going straight and on all four wheels is more important then popping wheelies. So with that being said a little more personal experience with this engine. It pulls really hard all the way thru the power band and with out a good driveline. You will be lucky to finish a tank. So be prepared for alot more maintence with this in your truck. It also Revs out pretty high so I would not worry about Top end at all it has enough. In a LST which I also have I really don't see to much of an advantage to adding this engine. I think the LST is a very good balance out the box for racing. Basher's do what you like you guys never have enough power. lol

RE: Info On the New HPI K4.6 for my LST
I have the SH .28 in my LST and just love it!
Its easy to tune, has killer power out of the hole and tops out just like the Mach .26 did.
They seem to be about the same in top speed, but with out a radar gun, I wouldnt know which is faster.
I do know that when racing, the SH .28 has alot more punch coming out of the turns.
The power is nice and smooth and will squat the rear end and lift the front tires an inch off the ground coming out of a turn with stock spings and 40 series Bowties.
The Mach just couldnt do that at my track.
For bashing, I put the stock tires back on, in the street or grass, it will flip over backwards with a stab of the thottle every time, in high range too!
On the street, with a little thottle control, I can get it to ride out a wheelie a good 20 feet with no wheelie bar!
Its also cool to see it pull the front wheels up when it hits second gear in the grass!
