well, do you need a new radio? In my opinion, I'd just keep the stock radio you have until you need a new one. Thats what I'm doing.

A good radio is always a good thing to have if youre serious to the hobby. A good 75mhx radio comes in handy and can do all kids of things (end points are a big plus) and when you get another truck, just throw the reciver in there and run the same radio... or you could even get a spare reciever for another rc so you dont have to lug around multiple radios, swapping batts and such. I run a Airtronics MX3 synthesized so i dont have to worry about crystals so swapping channels at the track is easy. I say if you have the money, get a good fm radio, might not pay off right away, but it will long term... plus i absolutely hate the stock traxxas am radio... also when some kid is running their am radio on some radio shack car, you dont have to worry about the truck running away from you... those kids have no clue...

I would personally recommend the Airtronics MX-3 radio. I got two of them, and these are awesome radios. I didnt know how good they were until I bought my Thunder Quake and it came with one (Bought off Ebay).

If these jr xs3 are as good as people say, I might have to get one.

I think that the M8 without a A Tx module is only around $170 dollars and the FM Tx module on E-Bay are only going for around $10 that is the way I went and since then I purchased a SpeKtrum unit for the M8 it is nice because I can change back and forth between Fm and 2.4GHz Very useful.
