Mammoth ST
Hey,
I was think of getting one of these truck. And I know that a lot of people would choose a stock Revo, but if you add the hop-up parts, you actually pay less than the Revo. But any way I was thinking of change that motor if I get one and put a HPI Nitro Star K4.6 in it. Because in the xtreme rc cars books, it says that the 24.7 puts out 1.27 hp, and a peck rpm of 37250, and the Hpi Nitro Star has more than two times the hp and about 1,000 more rpm.So what do you think about this?

Extreme RC dynoed the HPI 4.6 (.28) at 1.32 hp. So you wouldn't be gaining much.
I would suggest staying with the 24.7 it is a strong and reliable engine.

Look hpi sucks point blank. Stick with the 24.7 and if you want something else get a kani motor 40,000 rpm. I have a mammth st and my friend has one with the kani motor. They are pretty even mine goes straight his in every other direction on the track. What are you looking to do with it?

How much do you want to spend? To get the kind of power that you want it isn't going to be cheap.
I think your best bet would be to re gear the stock Mammoth ST. Going with a clutch bell with a higher tooth count pinions would increase you top speed.

RE: Mammoth ST
I plan on bashing it and on the weekend race it, if I can. But now i'm looking at the O.S. .21 VZ-R Turbo, which I can get off of ebay for about 260. But how is this motor, cause it has 2 times the hp, and about 5,000 more rpm, and if I change the gearing i should get speed about what 55-60 like I said, will this what?

If you have to change the engine, send the stock 24.7 to Dadders and have it ported. That should be all that you need.

RE: Mammoth ST
the OS u mentioned is an onroad engine, not suited for off-road use. if u want great power and speed, try the novarossi .28 8-port motor. or the sts .28. get the 24.7 pro and have it ported by dadders or get the sts .28 and have him ported for great power.
also, a great mod is to get the center diff for greater reliability, but u give up some top speed. keep the 2-spd for speed runs and the center diff for hard bashing and racing. just some advice.
