Are All .28 Engines Created Equal?
I notice that on some kits/rtrs that have a .28/ 4.6cc the specs will say xx amount of HP others do not specify. Does that mean that each .28 engine puts out the same ammount of hp? Or is there some reason why some would put out more hp than others.

RE: Are All .28 Engines Created Equal?
They will be different.
To make things even harder to discern, if manufacturer A says their .28 puts out 2.5hp, and manufucturer H says theirs puts out 2.9hp, you can't even really compare those numbers to say that H's is more powerful than A's, since they use different testing methods. The only way to truly compare them is people who have owned both, or if they are both tested on the same equipment. (Like Xtreme RC Car's X-dyno)
Maybe someone will give a link to the engine database from nitro-dyne systems?

gerwen hit it on the head and proxpilot is most likely right about the NR Top .28
Its not only the porting that makes a difference but the whole engine construction, from the carb all the way thru to the exhaust port. Then you have to consider header and pipe design. When all the parts come together from a design and construction point only then can you determine how an engine will perform.
That said, I think more engines suffer from breakin and miss tuning problems than is normally thought. Hard to compare anything unless you can put it on a dyno and tune for maximum performance or the same person tunes and drives different engines in the same vehicle.

Ahhh, good old "Made in Taiwan". LOL. Everyone loves seeing that right on the side of their engine.
Tell us how it is. I may just get one, and stick it in my savage. Then put Savage engine in buggy, and see if that works well
