what is plus and minus of ESC?
I am looking into getting my boys the Traxxas Rustler for a starter vehicle. They sell them with and without the ESC.
What are the advantages/disadvatages of having or not having the ESC?

Minus is higher cost, depending upon the difference you may be able to buy a better esc and still have the msc for a spare

there are no minuses with the esc... Longer runs, smoother acceleration and reverse with the traxxas unit.. I don't know if the mcs even has this.. The other plus are more motor choices... the difference of $30 is worth it.. The extra servo isn't worth $10...

If you plan to upgrade the ESC(Stock ESC isn't very good), get the MSC. You save like 20 bux, and you can save that up to buy a better ESC.

well i have a electric rustler with the esc and i tell u its so worth it
msc's are crap IMO cuz they are les efficient and heavy
the electric rustler is a great beginner car (was mine 6 years ago no probs ever with it)
i have a emaxx but its a little pricey ull prolly pay about $500 with a bunch of batts and a good charger and is a little fast
how many boys u have? get 2 rustlers if u have 2 cuz after they drive this for a minute they wont let go of it

My preference has been to get the model w/ manual speed control then keep the extra steering servo as it usually is the same and then upgrade the esc to a slight better one than comes with the esc model/
