Default RE: Anyone own a Warhead?

question!
ok my truck was not shifting in 2nd gear after my lhs put in my foc. When I looked for the adjuster screw I could not find it so I took tranny apart and put it back together again then I could see the shift ajustscew through the little hole on the tranny. I went to turn the adjuster screw counter clockwise and noticed it was tighten up all the way.

My question is how far should I back of to notice it starting to shift. Should I just start with 1/8 turn like manuel says or since it was screed all the way in should I back it of some more. Any help would be great.

Sounds like the LHS doesn't know how to work on the warhead. Someone once posted the number of turns for the starting postion. Try emailing duratrax support and ask them the question and see what they answer. Go to the support page and click on the email link.

if someone could tell me if they know if 7.5 turns is correct or not would be great. Or maybe if someone remembers where in this thread they talked about the factory shift set point that would help also. My buddy and I are going to do some late night bashing in my green house tonight and would like to have some starting point.

Anyone running an OS 30 in their Warhead? I'm trying to figure out whether it is going to need to be pullstart or if there is a way to use the kwik pit deal off the back on it?

hey jayman, yup, i'm running os .30 and using duratrax kwik pit back plate starter, the os starter back plate will not work coz it's pointing towards rear...now with kwik pit u'l might slightly enlarge one of the screw hole on the backplate to have proper alignment then make sure loctite and use lockwasher to prevent from loosening...

ssllc902, not quite sure of 7.5 turns but i just adjusted mine 5 turn from totally close but i'm using 40 series tire which way bigger than stock tires...hope this will give u a reference point...

Does the transmission hold up good with engine upgrades?

yup, as long as the reverse assembly is removed...i'm running oversize tires and bigger engine and seems workin' pretty well.

Yes it is 7.5, but it also depends on your engines power band. You might have to adjust it form 7.5 to get it just right.

Very nice! Thanks for letting me know. I'm trying to get either an OS 30 or Axial 32. Would rather the OS just for pure reason I had one in a plane and that was a great motor! I'm not familiar with the Axial and I dont see a mayor diff. in .2cc between the two. Now if i can get somone to trade for my 2 heli's I have listed. Dying to get a new motor in this thing.

lol i dont know i've had more problems with mine with the sportwerks 26 in it, blew three topshaft gear pin into three pieces (before switching to a hardened one), wore out all the dogbones pins (centers and cvds all have hardened pins in them now), and melted three spurs gear (got a metal one now). lol this truck is a pain in the a** but when it runs it is the sickest truck ever!!!!!

Default RE: Anyone own a Warhead?

thanks to all that helped me wih my shifting prob and giving me the correct starting point to adjust the tranny. It must of been set all the way tight at factory cause today was the 1st time it shifted. I never really noticed it never shifted before(just got the truck a couple weeks ago). I can tell now for sure. Its a hole new ball game now. I still am having no prob with the super pooper. Runs at around 250f and with that high torque pipe it has alot more juice. If I only could get traction!!!! Im still going to put the axial .28 in this spring when snow melts. The .32 would be better I know but if I wanna race it at all (big if) its just to big, so the .28 it is.I also broke a rim so I went to lhs and bought some tires from traxx and they are a pound and a half lighter and a bit wider then the stock WH tires and rims. Every bit of wight I can drop the better.

LOL..thanks! I think I'm going to go with that. Some good deals on it around $155. I just need to make sure if I pick that up what else I am going to need with it to get it done. Gonna miss the kwik start though.

The color is the only difference. I have the grey one. I love it.

No I put larger tires on with the bigger engine and it still shifts close to where I want it.

Hey messn how is the truck coming? I want to see some pictures soon. I had mine out the other day when I was just above freezing and the truck went like a rocket with the axial 32 and the ht pipe. I bought a FOC but have not put it in yet. Are you putting one in yours?

I ran the 4.6 hpi engine in my warhead and it pulls the front wheels off the ground with the bonz tires. stock tires just spins the wheels on black top. all i need to do is adj the 2nd gear and then i am set. i don't think i would want a bigger engine i cant picture it going any faster.
