Getting a new truck in the morning and need help deciding
Hello all,
I got my first nitro truck (a Tmaxx) about 3 months ago and I am wanting something bigger and better. I have been reading on the forums and have narrowed my decision down to either a Losi LST2 or the CEN Nemesis.
I know there is not such thing as an ubiased opinion so I wont even ask for one, I just need an honest opinion on what the strong points and weaknesses are for these trucks. Like which one is faster, which one is larger, which one will hold up better in the long run.
I am going to the local shop in the morning so I have to make a decision tonight and I am having a hard time with this.
Thanks in advance,
Eddie

Well of the two... I'd recommend the LST2... I'd recommend the Revo, but if you want something bigger than the T-maxx, the Revo isn't it. LOL... the LST2 has been proven to be a heavy-hitter... the CEN Nemesis has a following, but haven't heard it's as tough as some of the others.

LST2 is gonna have much better aftermarket and parts support overall. I like em both and the Nemesis is friggen awesome, but with better aftermarket support and good local hobby shop support for Losi would push me right to the LST2.
Cen is making good products, but they need to keep working their distribution and presence in local hobby shops and with the major players (aka Tower).
Hey, don't leave us hanging when you made the decision. Let us know what you get and take pictures! We like pictures. So many people ask for advice, and then never let us know what they got.

I have a Tmaxx as well. When I got the LST, it was a night and day difference! I was (and still am) awestruck by the quality of the LST over the Traxxas Tmaxx. Everything about it is truely impressive.
I have no experience with CEN.

if you're going tomorrow to buy, then i take it you'll be able to see both trucks first hand. either one would make an awsome truck. i wish i was in your shoes tomorrow. if you can't make up your mind after seeing them both, just check and see which they stock the most parts for and let that be your deciding factor. me personally with all things equal(price and parts)i would go with the cen for sure size and power and its about the hottest looking truck out.

Thats a tough choice man. They are both nice trucks. I do love the CEN genesis and mt2 but ive never driven a nemesis yet. I was at my lhs today and got to try an lst 2 the owner was demoing in the back and it is SWEET! I really like the hi/low 2 speed tranny. looks solid too

Two good trucks no "bad choice" I have the genny. I have two small complaints, the brakes are anemic at best, and the tranny shifter is not sealed. Both very minor problems, things I like are the huge chrome wheels and tires, the .46 (so far), the 3 spd drivetrain, and the 3 diff setup. Other linkages look like twigs compared to the size of cen's. I would say if you want to hop-up something go with the lst, that was actually a reason I went genny..... less temptation to drop a fortune into it. Either way let us know what you got

Thanks for all of the great feedback guys.
I have one more fast question, what is the difference between the Genesis and the Nemesis?
Thanks,
Eddie

The Genesis looks like a Nikko toy, and the Nemesis looks racey.
Take into consideration that getting parts for the CEN cars is tricky. And working on it is much harder than on the LST. The LST 2 is a good truck, and is worth the extra 50 bux over the LST.
The Nemesis is lighter than the genesis, by about 2 pound. Now the Genesis weighs 17 pounds. the Nemesis weighs 15. The LST weighs around 12. that's a 3 pound difference. The LST is way faster than the Nemesis, even though the Nemesis has a 3 speed tranny.
A entire chassis for the LST(without tranny and servos and stuff), will cost you about 20 bux. That's very cheap. Compare that to the price of parts, not to mention the scarcety of parts, of the CEN

Ill toss in a vote for the LST 2 as well. Im a Revo driver, and always snubbed the LST when the LST 2 came out, it caught my eye, and I decided to pick one up. WOW! I love it man. Theres almost nothing to not like about it. And on top of it all, it comes with a GREAT radio! Synth, computer radio on a RTR. Thats unheard of. No more crystals, no more frequency conflicts! Its just an all around great deal if thats what your price range is. Parts availability should play a big role in your decision as well though.

The Nemesis has a few things over the genesis for racing purposes. Its lighter as mentioned, it has a 2 speed tranny with no reverse, 23mm wheel hex, and cen's MTM brake system.

Thanks again,
One more thing I forgot to ask that applies to both the LST2 and the Nemesis, why do they come with such ugly wheels?
Also, I understand the Losi uses 420 series wheels with 20mm nut, so can I find a good looking set of wheels for the Losi? Cuase I sure dont want to be stuck with those ulgy stockers.
Thanks,

the dish rims? Those are racing tires. You know you can take a dremel, and make your own designs out of them, and you can also dye them. You don't need to leave them like they are.
They come with dish rims, because those are the most popular racing rims out. You are able to see what your car is doing, how it's steering and handling, from far away. Or something like this. They are also very strong.
I personally think the sniper wheels on the Nemesis look awesome.
As you know, the LST 2 comes with 20mm hexes. You can buy 23mm hex adapters from proline, 30 bux for all 40, and you can use any 40 series tire and rim.

I know you want bigger, but there is nothing better out right now than the Revo. People say LST is good, but its a load of crap. My dad drove over a manhole and broke an a-arm and shock shaft. WHAT KIND OF QUALITY IS THAT!!! Go Revo and get a Picco .27 or the EB modded .28 Nova Rossi.

I have the Genesis. Loving it. I am considering about buying the Nemesis too. IT just look so promising and nice. THe RCCA review is pretty much perfect too. I think GEnesis is the best RTR in the market until i saw the Nemesis. Its based on the Genesis w/ a lot of new technologies and stuff.
I am sure Nemesis is faster than LST... if under the condition of equal driver....
You dont like the race wheels, how about buy a Genesis and join the bling bling club ... Genesis has tghe best chrome wheel ever....

hey 3justin3, have you taken a look at or test drove one of the LST2's? A arms were probabaly the weakest thing about the oldd LSTs. THe new LST2's have a better A arm design just so you know.
I'd love to see a nemesis and lst race. I am a big cen fan but one of the cool things about the LST2 is the tranny. It has 2 speeds but you can set it for high range or low range. Low range gives mega torque while hi range gives good speed. It would be a good match up methinks.

I know... that definteily sounds cool but you will hardly ever use it. Trust me.. Just like the moon roof on a car. I always insist moon roof for my car but i never ever use it. Its a cool feature to have, but you definitely dont need it on your truck especially when you are racing.

HAHA. I have a car with a moon roof and i LOVE IT. I'd never go to one without. lol I guess it all depends on the user. That may be a true story i had an lst a while back and the A arms were weak. The A arm must have had some wear already but the manhole finished it off i guess.

Definately the Genesis Le is the ultimate basher with massive size. It's pretty tough, I have given mine quite the beating and it has held up very nicely. Cen has aome quality stuff now.

Let's try to stay on topic, please... the decision isn't whether he wants a Genesis or not.. it's the NEMESIS that he's talking about... or the LST2... now... care to comment on the actual topic?

RE: Getting a new truck in the morning and need help deciding
Never said I didn't like the Genesis... LOL... you ASSumed that. BUT... the question is between the LST2 and the Nemesis... I did notice he asked a quick question about the differences between the Nemesis and the Genesis, but I believe his choice is between the Nemesis and the LST2... and to recommend an alternate truck really doesn't help the situation... it more or less complicates it. Now, if the question had been... "What truck do you think I should get?" and he didn't have his narrowed down choices... alternative trucks would be just fine. If you'll notice my post, I said that I'd normally recommend the Revo, but... since that's not one of the choices... I gave my opinion between the choices. LOL... in school did you add your own answers to the multiple choice questions?
