You'll gain about 54%, or 21mph at the same motor rpm, according to the calculator. If the motor has enough power, you should top out faster, but it will accelerate less quickly.

he is right techinicly you should go faster but i think if anything you wont gain anyspeed ifnot loose some. heretique is right with the calc. but i think he may have forgot the weight factor. these are one piston glow engines that crank out more hp then torque. first off wat truck do you have, wat engine, and do you have ANY aluminum parts.

also larger tires puts more strain on the drivetrain and servos.

I have a .15cx that puts out .85 horsepower at 28,000 rpms.I don't know how much torque it has .I have no aluminum parts.I'm thinking about getting a OS .18 that makes 1.3 hp at 28,000 rpms. And when I get that I may get some aluminum skidplates.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

ok well considering that os serverly underrates there engines ur .15 probably pushes 1.5 hp and that .18 is wayy more like 2.5 hp. but i wouldnt get the big tires until you get the .18! just because you probably would get fast if you had the .18 and bigger tires.

the reason i asked if you have aluminum is cause thats even more weight than stock and if you truck was already having trouble pushing that aluminum around then it wont take the tires at all.

so yea i would RECOMEND that you wait till the .18 but its ur truck.

You can also change the gearing to reflect the stock relationship between the final drive ratio and the tires.

I too think that everyone is correct about the torque. Go for the larger motor and then try out the big tires.

If I am correct, it looks like your motor would put out about 1.9 in/lbs at 28000 rpm at the HP you stated. This is a calculation, so the real-world number may be higher or lower by a bit. A 2.5 HP motor would twist about 5.6 in/lbs.

Holy cow!!!!

Thats A lot of torque!!!!! Do you think that might be so much that it would break my drive shafts?
Also how fast do you think I'd go with the OS and tires??

Thanks

I think you'll gain some speed, but there are too many conditions to figure a real number. Others pointed out the weight factor, and I also think that's going to limit the increase in speed.

I don't know about breaking axles or anything, as the relationship between parts and motors is not really my field of expertise. It is more than twice as much torque as calculated (if I'm correct), and I'm ot sure of other problems which you might experience.

i would say dont buy the tires and go to www.towerhobbies.com

then first search pro-line 40, then pic the wheels you like from there
then second search for pro-line moab, get these they are good bashing tires
then search O.S. .18 TM

you will be set

That's not much of a difference, my tires are the same, 6.25". They are cheaper, too. It's really up to you which tires will make your truck perform how you'd like.

Well, that does translate out to more than a 2.25" increase in the tire's circumference, so all things being equal, it will yield a higher top speed. They are heavier by a bit, and will take more power to attain that higher speed, so it's hard to tell exactly what will take place. It may end up not being that much of a difference.

If you really want the look of the bigger tires, I'd go for it. But that's just me.

Jumbomaxx tires are massive, I have the jumbo chevrons and they certainly put a lot of stress on the drivetrain. I think all of proline's 40 series (including moabs) are lighter, so if you want huge tires and also speed, go with proline.

I just looked and You could buy a set of swamp kong tires for $84.95

I'm starting to fill dizzy.

I like the proline tires.but it would cost me $154.97 to get proline tires, rims, and adatpers.
thats a lot I know but, now their saying I'll need a wrench from Great planes to install them.
Do I???

To get the Swamp Kong tires it would cost about $94.00.but, I think that would put to much strain on my drive train.

To get the Jumbo Maxx tires and rims it would cost $97.00.Do you think that would be to
much strain on my drive train???

Thanks Again!!!

I may be wrong but you're probably going to loose some steering response with those huge tires as well, I don't know what kind of truck you have or what kind of steering servo but for tires that big I would think you need a pretty heafty steering servo or dual servos to get the same turning response.

I don't have any of the dual servos or anything.I don't know if you'v seen the jumbo maxx tires or not. If not, they are 6.25 inches tall.My current tires are only 5.25 {or 5.5 depending on the ruler} inches tall.It steers just fine now. When the batterys are brand new it takes it 1 secoud to get from all the way left to all the way right.Timed it myself .Would that make that big of a difference??I am planing to get an O.S. .18. so they should not slow it down to much.

Thanks

Yeah, I didn't even think about the steering much. With the larger tires, you'll need some extra torque to move them, but it shouldn't make much difference while your truck is in motion. Sitting still, it will be hard to turn them for sure. That probably goes for the 6.25" tires too.

Using them, I have stripped the idlers once, and now my mip center cvd cups have holes almost the size of the t-bone. No problems with steering with my old 5945, works great with my new 5955. I still love these jumbo chevrons, really make the truck monstrous and cool looking. Absolutely not for racing!
