RTR Does Not Mean Ready To Race
I've been reading so many posts saying that truck A is better than truck B because it is ready to race out of the box.
This is far from true for the simple fact that people who race do some serious hop ups before they even think about racing.
Unless some pro RC drivers are buying the same RTR trucks in the LHS where people like you and me go, win first place with only charging the batteries and adding fuel - the statement "it is ready to race" is far from true.

RE: RTR Does Not Mean Ready To Race
#1 I thought RTR meant Ready-To-Run...
#2 I think most "pro racers" generally buy kits anyway..
A post for the sake of post count perhaps?
I think you're confusing what I call "leisure racing" with "pro racing"...
*shrug*

on the flip side, a pro racer CAN pull out a RTR vehicle, go to your track, and make you look silly with even the most modded truck imaginable. Why?? Its pure SKILL

Naturally a RTR is Ready to Race. All racers need someone to beat
But it is normally not RTW=Ready To Win That takes some serius skill and often serius hop-ups.

RE: RTR Does Not Mean Ready To Race
there are trucks that are more race ready than others right out of the box however. for instance mammy st, hell fire, mayhem st, storm sut are all better out of the box on a race track (meaning that these trucks are for the most part built for racing) than maxxes, revo, savage, and tnx. but a properly set up rtr mt in the hands of a competant driver can also be very fast on the track. you dan't HAVE to spend a ton of money on any truck to make it run better on the track, set up is the key. i've spent less than a hundred bucks on my t-maxx and it runs great on the track. i'm an oaky-ish driver, not great, but there are guys at our track that have spent big bucks on there rigs and i still beat them. now there's this one guy who is an incredible driver, with a stock revo (except tires), and he spanks it to the rest of us (he own the track and gets to practice whenever he wants). he would be untouchable with a more race oriented truck, but whats the point he beats us with a stock revo.

You can race with any RTR that has an appropriate racing class at your local track. Depending on the competition there, you may even win. You may be at a disadvantage to those with hop-ups and such, but that doesn't mean you can't be competetive.

RE: RTR Does Not Mean Ready To Race
yeah gerwen, your right. I have a Jammin Pro kit. 1100 bucks all in all it's worth. I get smoked by all kinds of guys at the track with lesser trucks. It's skill. Just like ken said too.
I do not believe there is a such thing as Nitro Ready to run. Engine needs to be sealed still, thread lock...Blah blah blah. Take it out of the box and run it? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

RTR is "ready to run".....RTR is"Ready to Race" with a pencil pusher Marketing Exec's spin on it.
