Hi torque metal servos-are they worth it?
I just bought two Hi Tec Ultra Toruqe servos(HS-645MG).
I paid $40 for each. I haven't installed them yet.
Are they really worth it? I'm feeling a bit of buyer's remorse.
Do they last? Thanks for the input guys.

I routinely pay more than $40 for each servo on all my cars, typically $80-$110 and I've found you get what you pay for. The 645 is a good servo, not by any means the best, but to get anything good at $40 the 645 is fine.

I agree with binary (above).....I think the HS-645MG is a nice servo for replacing the stock steering and/or throttle (although most people move their stock steering to the throttle position). I am running the 5645MG in my throttle and the 5945MG in my steering which are both digital servo's, and I like the performance with them so far. You'll do fine with the 645....I'd say keep it.

I had to replace the little plastic gears in the steering servo of my Savage twice. Then I bought the 645 MG, it's been all-good ever since, great upgrade in my book

I have a Futaba 9450 that is the same size as a standard servo but much more torque and speed. Was it worth the 80 bucks I paid for it on EvilBay ($140 at retailers at the time)? Well it lasted 12 months in my heavy, heavily modified t-maxx plus 18 months in my nitro rustler. It still works great, ready for my next truck. My brother waxed three traxxas heavy duty servos in less than a year. It was worth it for me. I think for monster trucks, it is neccessary.

In a word...yes...they are worth it. The 645 is a good replacement servo - when and if you want more performance, start looking at the $100 range...there you can get into the HS5955tg (if looking for torque...333 oz of it!) and if you want to get something faster - fast is good for a throttle/brake servo!
