when i get my savage x, i'll need a glow plug ignitor
would you reccomend:

or a OS AA starter, http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXLXT9&P=ML
and what about this temperature monitor? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHUH2&P=7

RE: which glow plug starter?
you should actually get both ignitors. use the rechargeable and have the AA as a backup. i have a rechargeable and a d battery one as a backup (the ones powered by alkalines arent as powerful and make starting a little more difficult sometimes)
the VTM works fine, i have one, its nice shows celcius and farenheight and shows max and min temps. i prefer using a laser temp gun though....duratrax and hpi make temp guns

Having a backup that takes AAs or a C cell is nice and will save you headache when you want to run your truck. I have ended up wiht about 6 glow starters over time and I have to say my Favorite is one like this
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXFBH8&P=ML
It has an indicator so at least you can tell when its going dead. Dracy is right though, you will want to end up with 2 or more eventually.

RE: which glow plug starter?
I use
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVJ48&P=M
with an older form of this
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPS86&P=M
I keep the regular glow plugs with me in the box, toss it in my pocket at races where I dont want to lug the box around; but for bashing, its awesome. the concept of not having a charged glow plug is just not in the realm of possibilities. and the electric fuel pump is a nifty trick as well.

RE: which glow plug starter?
I use a 1.5v battery with the glow plug holder attached to the battery. It is big and heavy but I've been using it for 5 months (from last year) now and it is still as good as new. It keeps the glow plugs burning hot and I start my trucks up in under 15 pulls.

Can you just buy a spare battery for the starter?
Hope so - that's what I did today.. Then you don't have to take two starters out, but just an extra battery.. Less space, cheaper, etc..

I meant rechargeable batteries BTW.. My Savage came with a starter w/charger, and today I just bought a new battery for it, though the original is still good.. Probably don't even need it - just a precaution...

RE: which glow plug starter?
Hi I'm brand new to nitro "RC"s and I have this same exact glow starter. Can you tell me where the heck you plug the charger into that comes with it? I can't find the hole for it anywhere on the starter. It didn't come with any instructions and my Savage's instructions don't describe how to charge it either. I feel completely retarded so far, compared to electric RCs. I haven't even put fuel in this thing yet to do the proper break-in procedures, because I can't figure out the glow starter. Please help.

RE: which glow plug starter?
it plugs into the end of it, the same end that goes on the glow plug
I only have one and it's a Dubro and have two extra batteries I keep charged for spares... I have yet to get through the second batt. in a single day.
oops... didn't realize this thread was 3 months old lol (too many brews)

RE: which glow plug starter?
Both, it will tell you if the battery is low or if the glow plug is bad. That way you don't spend time trying to start it with a bad glow plug.

What is the meter for? is it for the battery meter or glow plug life meter?
