If you don't need a synthesized one, the 3PM is great at around $100. Else get the XS3, it costs more than the 3PM but still well within your budget.

If you can find a DX2, get it. I have seen them for $160 at my LHS. Then you have the Spektrum DSM so no frequency clips, no interference, and no one EVER on your channel! Or, for about $200, you can get the DX3. It comes with 2 receivers!

jx3 is a very nice controller, usually comes with a rs300 receiver, if you use the rs310s you ll get a bit more range, havent completely range checked mine but so far im gettign about 200+ yrds. will do a good range check this weekend after i get a full charge on both batts..

Futaba 3PM (FM) @ $119.99. If you don't want to switch the reciever back and forth, then you'll have to add an additional receiver and another crystal to the cost as well.

Save up some more and get the Spektrum or something synthesized. Crystals suck.

Look at it this way: Say you find a radio that you like for under $180. Fine, but then you have to turn around and get another receiver and crystal, if you go with crystals. On the other hand, if you can swing it, the Spektrum DX3 comes WITH the second receiver for $250......plus all of the other advantages that you get with that setup.

I dont EVER race and really dont plan on it, so I dont see any prob with crystals... (correct me if Im wrong)

So all im looking for is somthing that wont glitch with my SS5800 stampede, and extened the range of both trucks.

So why spend more on the JX3? Why not just get the Futaba 3PCM and a extra reciver and crystal? Seems to be the best price to quailty.

What in terms of range and signal strength do the others offer?

Generally when there's no interference, your R/C would run of out sight before it runs out of range. The higher the power output, the better range and signal strength, assuming same modulation.

Alright fair enough. Also consider though, the Spektrum systems have a built in failsafe. So for the $250 you get the best range available, no glitching, long battery life, no interference, two receivers, two failsafes, and no more worries about breaking antennas.

I'll shut up being a Spektrum fanboy now

you will get better quality signal out of a non crystal system, fms have better range, and generally get less interferance by nature of the tecnology.. the Spectrums are nice for this reason... its just technology. i use the XS3Pro and use 310 rxs in my grounds/waters...i will need to get 5 more RXs, i have 2 and need to get one for all, and set them all to the same channel, then i only need to have batts charged for what ever im driving, no switching stuff around... i got 2 Tmaxxs a BB Maxx a CT5, and 3 boats im going to be startign sometime in the next century...
i really boils donw to price/options... the Futaba sounds like it could be a good deal for you at 2 trucks... but with a bigger garage, comes less things to dink with as a whole.
