it has roto start system but it's optional as you said!!
So you will not be able to start it with a roto starter with out the optional roto start backplate.

Sorry for any misunderstanding

yes roto start is opt but its only recomended when the engine is fully broken in, i would say a 3 quarts of fuel. here is a site that will explain all.

I just ordered the backplate , I am going to use my Losi starter, I doubt the hex size is the same, that's ok I'll just make my own.

let me know how it works out, i want to get one but i want to run another 1/2 gallon through her just to be sure its broken in. the savage spoiled me i just hit the button like 2 times and its started, then i go to the nuckle breaker, i mean the genesis and it starts after the 5 pull. it may not seem alot but it wears your arm out.

The pullstarter is fine on the genesis, Mine starts within one or two pulls most of the time. Only a few times have I cranked on it for minutes at a time, and that was becuase I was dumb. I would take a pullstart over a roto-start anyday, more reliable, and you can kill the engine if you want to stop for some reason, then start it up immediately again. I love the pull start and I don't find it to be inconvient, infact my genesis is started before my friends savage .28 roto start or my friends electrically started pro 15 maxx, most of the time.

Well I gotta come up with something, I have the backplate but the shaft is completely different from the losi one, The closest thing I have laying around is a t-maxx dogbone. Which brings me to a question is the HPI starter shaft and the Cen one the same thing? I don't seem to be able to find a shaft only from cen just the complete kit.

michelob78 where did you get the back plate from? i can only find the kit for 50.00 with the rotostart. the savage roto def looks the same as the cen's, [sm=idea.gif] i wonder if the k4.6 roto backplate works with it. i'll get back to you[sm=wink.gif].
this is the k4.6 roto backplate, hmmmm, it says that the cen .46 backplate works with a pico.28[sm=eek.gif]

I found an Ofna brand shaft that might work, I am wondering if anyone know for sure? I am not worried about the hex end just the end with the ball and pins... if it fits inside cen's backplate?

I believe the LOSI handheld starter spins in a different direction.
